Christmas Special CD's from a Couple of Years Ago

If I read the new product info correctly, the resources (books) are not the same files any longer, hence the need for the big downloads or the new discs. I purchased the Christmas special CD's a couple of years ago for Logos 3 and it had a whole bunch of titles on it. The deal was "so good" that any that didn't sell were to be destroyed. Are the titles that were on these discs revised and on the new version 4 discs and downloads? If not, can version 4 on both Win and Mac access the old version format? Any insight on this matter will be appreciated.

The short answer is that any and every resource that Logos knows you have a license to will be downloaded to your computer. Eventually they (all?) will be rebuilt for Logos4. The way Logos4 delivers resources, all it needs is your login and you're good to go. I assume that means that all Windows resources will be downloaded for your Mac too.

I'm not sure whether all the resources will be rebuilt. Logos may not have permission to rebuild those resources for which it no longer has a license to sell (Oxford Bible Commentary (still 2.0) or Interpretation Commentaries).

Mm-hmm. But he was asking about the Christmas Special of a couple of years ago. I would guess that most, if not all of those would be.

But I'm not sure of Logos' commitment to older resources that don't sell very well. I'd prefer they'd spend their time on something else, even if I have some of those resources.

Yes Richard, I know what the question was

I was simply clarifying the statement that "Eventually they (all?) will be rebuilt for Logos4."

Many of us have copies of the Oxford Bible Commentary, for example, and we ought hold out little hope that this will be rebuilt (though it would be nice for the metadata to be fixed so that it's listed as a commentary and not a monograph)

But, it is most likely that all the ones from the Christmas sale will be (I'm pretty sure Logos still has the rights to these resources).

I just hope they don't hurry too many Prepubs out the door in the next few months -- Bob spend as much time as you like retagging old resources.....

As someone who purchased the Christmas Specialls both years it was offered, the books are available in my Logos 4 setup. Some of them are still lbxlls files, but some are also logos4 files. The special was "so good" it couldn't be repeated and the extra disks may have been destroyed, but my license has not been. Logos policy is that if you purchase a license to the book, you have a license to the book, even if they can't sell it to you anymor.

As far as I understand things, Logos 4 can handle 1) All resouces in its native format 2) Almost all files from Libronix (There are some courseware and multimedia files that have some issues) 3) Some old Logos Library System 2.0 files, including the Oxford I care about. It does not yet support the old LBXOEB Personal Books, but some sollution to this is promised.
