Leaving Beta Testing

After the release of Beta 7, I decided that, owing to the instability of recent Betas, I could no longer remain in Beta testing, so I Set Update Channel to Default.

This should have worked according to Wiki:

"Transition option: can use command Set Update Channel to Default for automatic transition to Stable channel for current development cycle (no more Beta updates, only “Gold” and service releases)"

This morning, however, when I launched Logos, an update started to download. When I installed it, I found out that it was Beta 8. This should not have happened according to Wiki. [:'(]

You can't

Sorry that the wiki was unclear, what it mean was that if you set Update Channel to Default you would ride out this Beta cycle and then stay on the Stable release once this beta cycle is over and then not join the next beta.

You can't get back on the Release Version train until the Beta train gets back to that station. Meanwhile, you can turn off the updates feature and stay on the Current Beta train until it gets there. Or you can continue to switch to the next Beta Trains until the trip is over. (Theoretically each train being a little nicer and faster, providing there are no engine troubles.) Of course, you can get off the train and walk back at any time. (complete reinstall) But that is not a walk for the fainthearted. And some of your luggage may be too big to carry, forcing you to wait for it to get there on the train. (New formats of files, etc...)

If want no more Beta updates, can use command Set Update Channel to Stable (only future “Gold” and service releases)."

Option: if have adequate disk space, could have two Mac users: one Beta and one Stable. Personally have Stable version in Applications folder. My Beta user has Logos 4 Mac application in Documents folder (similar to Logos 4 PC configuration).

All this highlights the need for Logos 4 to tell us what is being updated before one downloads and installs.

The lack of information about update downloads is the most frustrating thing about Logos 4 for me. I have automatic updates turned off, but even when it does inform you there is an update available it doesn't tell you what it is.

Thanks, Kevin. I think that is the best option for me. Surely the Beta can only get better [:D] then I can stay on the stable release once it's all over.
