In a lot of old theological works I have created as PBBs, footnote numbers reset to the number 1 after each page. This was no problem in making Libronix PBBs in the past. But, this is an issue in creating footnotes in Word, which doesn't seem to allow me to number the footnotes with the number I want, or at least I cannot find a way to do this except to create a continuous section break after each footnote and then select the option to renumber footnotes with each new section. Continuous section breaks create other formatting issues. (It creates a new paragraph right after the section break when in the original work the next sentence was part of the existing paragraph, etc.)
Since I try to faithfully convert the dead tree version of a book into an electronic resource, retaining the original footnote structure is important.
Are there any solutions I can try that I haven't thought of?
