We've been hearing about the development of an Android App for some time.
How long does it take to do something like this?

It takes varying amounts of time. Given the hints we've seen in the background - they had to revamp some of the server side stuff to make it work, which meant time was spent doing "stuff" that wasn't Android exclusive.
But with an almost public beta going on (Dan Pritchett previously tweeted an invite to 50 android users...) the final and fully public release ought to be closer than farther.
