Advice Needed

I purchased the Logos 4 DVD on Monday and should receive it next week. I did this under the old assumption that I could use the DVD to load the program and resources as I did under Logos 3 and below. It turns out that having the
DVD will not help me since I still have to download all the resources from the server. I found out about this after I made the Logos 4 purchase.

I live in a rural area and the best internet service I could get was a satellite dish system for semi-broadband. This system limits me to 200 MB per day before I get reduced to dial-up speeds. During the hours of 2-7AM this limit is lifted, but from reading these post it seems like 9-14 hours of downloads is normal.

The questions then are:

Is Logos 4 an upgrade that is not feasible for me?

When I receive my software; should I simply return it to Logos?

One more question (directed towards Logos) but I didn't want to be be misunderstood as a sour grape question. So with all sincerity I ask; when developing Logos 4 was there a conscience decision to eliminated dial-up or slow internet connection customers from this upgrade?

I believe the resources are with the disk. However there will be some download required as some newer files have come on board since the disk went to press. The amount will depend on what resources you have. It will also recognise your L3 resources on installing from memory.

the only downloads you should need to do with having the DVD are "New Titles", and updates to both program and books.

I guestimate thats 97% off the DVD and 3% download

Since We heard the Disk was being pressed approx 7 days ago, I have had less than 500MB of updates, and I have Gold

9-14 hours of downloads is normal.

I think even with the slower download you should be OK to install from the disk and then to download what is missing. If you do that in your time frame, you should be OK. You can setup Logos to do downloads only when you allow it. That might be good option for you to set in the program setup.

My internet speeds are pretty low and I had assumed most of resources were on the DVD but have been seeing different views on this expressed in various Forum posts - for instance seen somewhere that only the engine (and no actual resources) are on disk.

Agree. This needs to be clarified ASAP. Why are Sales giving a "no resources" answer and Tech (Bradley) saying there was barely enough room on a DVD for the resources. If people are purchasing the DVD option it is natural to expect that the resources are present, not just a few MB of software that anybody can download.

All the resources that are in the new "LE" (Logos 4) collections are on the DVD, and will be installed from the DVD by the program.

Some of the resources that you already own (that are not part of the LE collections) have been upgraded to Logos 4 versions that work better with the new software. Due to space constraints on the DVD, these are only available via automatic download from our servers.

Will beta testers get a DVD? If not, is there a way to order it? I would like it to avoid the massive downloads when I need to reinstall.
