Icons of Books on iPhone

On iphone, the home screen tutorials,  book covers show  up on the lower part of the screen to indicate recent open resources. On my screen there's a + a star and Aa (font size) . I wonder if I have not dowloaded the latest version or something??? At the "very bottom of the screen there are icons for "home, library, search, read and more".
