Brazos Commentaries

Does anyone on the forums use any of the hard copies of Brazos Commentary?

It seems interesting but I can't justify purchasing every new commentary that is being added to the program.

Currently my main commentaries used for bible study and sermon preparation are nicot-nicnt, wbc, pillar, baker exegetical and baker.

What will Brazos add that I don't already have?

You might want to check out the series page on bestcommentaries.com which shows those volumes that are rated as well as the reviews of those volumes.

I highly recommend picking up the following resources in Logos:

New Testament Commentary Survey, 6th ed. by Carson $14.99 in Logos

Commentaries for Biblical Expositors by Rosscup $19.99 in Logos

I believe they do a good job of evenly presenting what the viewpoints of the various commentaries and their individual authors, as well as the strengths and weaknesses as they see it. I usually check them all as well as the book review sections of my journals and journals online. Only so many dollars to spend on a sea of resources.

In my opinion those two resources on commentaries were worth every penny. [Y][Y]

I am an LCMS pastor (conservative Lutheran) and have used quite a few of the Brazos Theological Commentary volumes, in either hardcopy or Kindle format. They are not exegetical commentaries, but rather focus on the theological meaning of the text. Nonetheless, I have found the majority of the ones I've used to be exceptionally helpful in bringing out the theological/liturgical emphases of the Biblical books they cover. Apart from Hauerwaus's commentary on Matthew, I give them all two thumbs up. I wouldn't want to be without them and am very pleased that Logos is making them available.
