Download Resources in Background
Currently, if you start downloading a resource and either 1) you navigate away from the download screen or 2) the device screen goes to sleep, the download process is interrupted and a "download failed" notification message appears.
It would be nice if the resource download process occurred in the background so that it would complete no matter what the user or the system does in the foreground.
This problem appears to occur using the following steps:
- Open the Library View
- Search for a resource you wish to download
- Tap the right-arrow for the resource to display the Resource Info View
- Tap the download button
- Navigate away from the screen or allow the screen to sleep
- Notice the "download failed" notification message
This problem does not seem to occur if you open the Resource Info View by tapping the "i" icon while reading a resource.
Thanks,
Dan

I have successfully downloaded several books using the exact steps you listed. I probably downloaded 10 that way this morning. I just kept selecting new ones to download while the previous selections downloaded in the background. I did have a couple that seemed to hang awhile, but if I clicked the right arrow by the title so that the resource information was shown, it still said "downloading" and immediately the progress bar began moving. So, it works at times, just not consistent.

Dan,
Does your device have background data usage disabled? (Settings -> Accounts & sync -> Background data).
