In version 4 is there a setting to select a default layout that loads behind the home screen? I have been digging around and cannot locate it. Thanks.
Brian,
You can set the homepage to not load during start up. If you do..the Logos will load your "last used" layout.
If you always exit via a blank screen, then that's what it will load to....
For me, I like to have it remember what I was doing and start from there.
If you click the home page icon, it slides out of the way. If you want to look at what you were working on previously, dismiss the home page and look to the far right at "Layouts" there should be several there (if you've used this page before). Pick the one you want, or start over.
BTW, layouts can be renamed and saved. Just click on the words "Snapshot [time stamp]" and give it any name you want.
Thanks guys. I have my 'default' layout setup and named, so with this info I can handle it the way I like.
I have my bible study layout constructed, named and saved. Now--can I make it be the layout that populates when I type a reference into the home screen go box?
Esther
Esther,
No...you can't.
You can do one of two things:
1.) have it be the autoload layout (you do this by closing logos while it's the active layout; Logos will open to it next time)
2.) open it before you do your studies.
That's the only two ways that I know of.
Sorry but I find the layout feature very confusing. I want to do something very simple. I have a bible reading plan that I see on my home page. When I click on that, it opens that bible passage, but it also opens up lots of other windows that slow down the program (passage guide, explorer, etc.) -- when I turn off the home page coming up as default, it doesn't load those other unneeded windows, but then I have to manually click on home to see my reading plan again. Not a big deal but confusing.
Logos' behavior here is inconsistent. If you click on a Bible reading plan when you start up to the home page or if you close all resources and then go to the home page it will open up the Bible and a Passage guide... un-needed windows. If you navigate to the homepage from a layout with books open and click on the Bible reading plan the Bible is just added to the books already open. I want to read when I use the reading plan, not use any guides or tools. If my reading prompts a question then I can launch the passage guide and tools manually.
I agree with you Kevin - I think launching from the reading plan should be Bible only and from the GO box the default layout. It seems that Logos considers this to be a feature change rather than a bug so we should get it on user voice.
