Add-ins

I am a novce at this bible software thing but would like to get more in-depth with my bible study. I have the Leaders version of the Logos and most of the resources it has not applicable to me nor do most of the higher versions. I am interested in some recommendations on what add-in would some of your more seasoned folk would suggest for a guy like me.

My first question would be: What are your study habits?

Are you the type of pastor who just opens up his bible, a strongs concordance, and his trusty matthew henry commentary and that's it....

You're seminary trained and you now manually look up Greek and Hebrew via your paper versions of BDAG and HALOT....

It's hard to say unless you tell us:

What you're trying to accomplish

What you do now for studying

What you hope to do in the future.

etc..

Dwight, I'm sure you will get some response here, but for the best and detailed responses let us know what areas of study you really would like to focus on.

Are you into studying the original languages, church history, etc... Or are you looking to just go tunnel vision straight forward into the depths of the Word of God?

Give us an idea of what you "major" and "minor" of study would be and you'll get great advice...

To be honest I'm not certain - but that's born in part because with the transition from L3 to L4 I'm no longer sure what the differences are between the packages regarding addins.

Most (all?) of the Addins you see here http://www.logos.com/products/groups/products/addins are for version 3.

Which resources do you find less than useful? That would help us understand what you don't like. The leadership resources, maybe?

The eBible Expanded Edition - A relatively cheap package that gives you the Nelson reference works, plus some decent church history and theology works, along with a bunch of fluff (in my opinion)

After looking at the different editions of Logos I have concluded what I really would like is the Original Lanaguage edition because I would like to spend some time learning to dig into the word in the original language (as much as a novice can) and I think the OL version allows that. However I do not see a way to "upgrade" to it.

It never hurts to call and ask, but there is very little overlap between OLL and Leaders and this can be frustrating. It certainly was for me a couple of years ago when I wanted to add the Revised Common Lectionary to my Original Languages. I would look at Schollars to see if this includes enough of the Original Languages stuff for you, or else you may have to purchase an additional base package. But, call and ask.
