Collections Gone

All my collections have gone [:|]
I have restarted L4Mac and allowed it to sync ... no collections [^o)]
I have taken my computer off-line and loaded my VM. My collections are still there under L4 on windows.
My concern is that centrally, on the cloud, Logos thinks that I actually have no collections and that this empty position is correct. Will it then over-write the windows version? After all, it is possible that I may have deleted my collections (I did not!) and that I want to start again with my collections.(Nooooo !).
It also follows that you cannot have a system where deleting a collection on one installation will only see it put back again after another installation has synced. Thus a deletion in one installation trickles across all installations. Take that to the extreme ... deleting all collections will trickle down (and over) my windows collections. How to Logos know the difference between a deliberate deletion of collections and a basic loss of data (bug)? I have restarted L4Mac and it does not see a problem with no collections ... how will I know that my windows collection will not have those deletions trickle down?
Most importantly, what do I do now? I do not want windows online in case my collections are zapped from above, but I do want Windows online so that I can restore my collections to L4Mac!
This also leads me to think just how good is a the sync system as a backup if you cannot ascertain which data will have primacy?
Thanks.

In Logos 4 Mac, wonder about diagnostic logs ? curious if any database file(s) are corrupt. Could launch Logos 4 Mac using command key and work offline, then open tools => collection to create an unnamed collection. While Logos 4 Mac running, can open Logos4.log and Indexer.log files to see if any file(s) corrupt or malformed. If so, wonder about Time Machine restore.
For virtual machine (VM), one option is closing VM and backing VM up so have option to restore VM to previous state.
When changing library priorities in Logos 4 PC (4.3 Beta 10) with Logos 4 Mac (4.3 Beta 10) library open in a floating window with priorities; could make priority changes on Logos 4 PC, then some time later see changes revert back. Suspect sync is using time stamps (last one wins), which is same replication strategy implemented by Microsoft for replication between Active Directory servers (simple to implement, but can lose data). My library prioritization resolution was to close Logos 4 Mac, change Logos 4 PC priorities, sync, open Logos 4 Mac, sync (so both Logos 4 installations now have same priorities).
With network offline using VM, could change something in each collection, then undo change, which updates time stamp, Then close VM, connect network, open VM, sync, then check collections in VM. If VM missing collections, could closing VM and revert to backup. If VM looks good, then open Logos 4 Mac (with diagnostic logging enabled), sync, and check collections.

Excellent idea.[:D]
Took a while to make a full backup, and add a character to each collection name, but it has now syncced OK, and my renamed collections are back to the mac. Just need to rename them back again now.
Thanks KS4J ... you ride to the rescue again!

Glad to read about collections back on Mac [:D] like idea of changing collection name by one character.

Not a mac guy, but like the idea of the one character thing.

Not so much a bump as another Arghhhh! It has happened again [:@]L4Mac has lost all my collections!
which db file stores them, and can I copy this from Windows?
has this been acknowledged as a bug?

The complete lack of any Trash / Recycle Bin support in Logos is a major design flaw / oversight. This has been raised many, many times for notes, visual filters, clippings, collections, etc. Basically anything where much time and effort is involved in creating something (such as creating notes, setting up collections, etc) should be "protected" by the application that the user is using. For example, all applications that I have on my Mac first ask me if I want to delete something or move deleted items to the Trash can where they can be restored later. And permanently deleting items (emptying the trash can, for example) should always require user confirmation.
Despite numerous requests by many people, Logos appears to be deaf to this design and usability flaw. And for this very reason I don't (and won't) use Logos' notes / clippings feature. I, too, have lost collections in the past (which I am convinced I didn't delete). Thus I have become increasingly reluctant to make any "customizations" or put any time into "organizing" things within Logos.
Logos 4's lack of attention to usability of core features (exceptionally poor performance of notes, ease with which data can be accidentally destroyed, etc, etc) are sad given the product's potential.
Is anyone at Logos listening...?

Apologies, not know if SQLite database files can be copied across platforms.
Firefox has a SQLite Manager that can open SQLite databases; within Logos4 folder, documents sub-folder has ResourceCollectionManager database and journal files. Could use SQLite Manager on Windows and Mac to look at database file contents.
Edit: wonder about closing Logos 4 Mac, switch to Windows, change something in each collection to update time stamp, sync to Logos Servers, open Logos 4 Mac, sync with Logos Servers, check collections.

I did the same as last time ... switched to my vm, renamed the collections, synced and then went back to the mac, it is just annoying that it has happened again
I reported a bug some time ago about the file size of one of the databases not allowing me to use mark's online book shelf system. A month or so after that one of the betas announced that that db was now using jpg instead of png ... the relevance being that there may be some difference between the two, it may be as simple as text encoding similar to Mac CSV vs. Windows CSV.

Understand annoyance; have not yet experienced collection loss while using Logos 4 Mac and Logos 4 PC (have sync'd lots of stuff cross platform).
