L4RC2 Fresh Install -- New Crashes
While I was away at the hospital with Donna, my main home tower was being repaired after a major power crash (lost the power supply, the CPU fan, one stick of memory, the video card, the motherboard, one of my two raid drives, and terribly wounded the other). Anyway, it's been rebuilt -- it's still running WinXP/Pro SP3, but it now has 4gb RAM, two 750 gb RAID drives, a new NVidia video card (we jacked up the license plates and put a new car in between).
This machine has (now) never had Logos (of any iteration) installed. I did an internet install of Logos 3, and then brought over all my resources, and other files from my office machine to rebuild my L3 installation.
I then took my L4B1 DVD and installed that version on the tower also. After it was up and running, I let it catch up -- ergo, it went from L4B1 to L4RC2 in one update.
However, everytime I close and restart L4RC2, I get a program crash message box. I've captured the System Info and attached it in a ZIP file with the two files that were generated. One has a date time stamp from just before I went to bed last night, the other was a fresh crash this morning. Hope this helps make a better product, better.

Thanks Dale ~ We'll review your log files. ~ Thanks, Melissa
Update: The log file shows the program is still at Beta 1. I recommend uninstalling it and installing Logos 4 RC2 first. Let us know how that goes.

I seem to recall some prob's with an RC, maybe it was 2. Try this: while starting, hold down the CTRL key and choose to start without the home page. Then get your updates, We're on service release 3 already.

Dale ~ As I mentioned above, your log shows program is still at Beta 1. The bug with the home page that required opening to blank layout was prior to the RCs. Uninstall and installing RC2 or 3 is your best bet at this point. ~ Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Ummm, that sounds much easier said than done.
I have a DVD with Beta 1, and I've got a link to the Beta 1 download site.
BUT, I don't have a link to an RC 2 or 3 installation. All my updates and upgrades through the cycle were one at a time (or perhaps on one machine from an L4B6 to a B9 or RC1.
Can you shoot me a link to allow me to get a good install directly from RC2 or 3??
Thanks --
Blessings,

Sorry, try this: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe. Also, I meant to write SR rather than RC. We're currently at SR-3.

I checked Help | About and found that the screen said I was at SR2, even if the logs said Beta1. Don't understand that, but it seems resolved.
Now, perhaps I goofed, but I simply ran the install
Thanks Melissaprogram for SR3 without going back and deleting the original installation -- it seems well.

Logging is now disabled by default, so you're seeing old logs. There is a script to enable it. I'm not feeling motivated to find it for you right now. But you probably won't need it as SR-3 is very stable.

You can temporarily turn on logging by holding the Ctrl key down when you open Logos 4 and keeping it held down until the Sign In window appears, then click the Sign In button. This will enable it for that session. The resulting log files are located in \Documents\Logos Log Files. (This has changed since beta testing.)

Cool! Have to remember that one.
