Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 tablet & Logos
Hi,
Not sure if this would be the right place to post this, but I wanted to give attention to an alternate setup of Logos on a tablet platform. About a month ago, I purchased a Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 tablet (a Windows 7 tablet with a 10.1" screen size) for various reasons, one of them to use the Logos software on a Windows-based tablet platform as an alternative to the iPad and Android platforms. The tablet has the performance similar to a netbook, so Logos 4 would not be a good solution for it, but it does run Libronix well, and that's what I'm using on there.
There are various reasons why I chose this as an alternative solution to the iPad and Android mobile platforms for Logos...
1. Not all of the Logos resources are available on the iPad and Android mobile platforms. I like to use the Bible Knowledge Commentary and Bible Exposition Commentary as resources, and unfortunately they're not available on the iPad and Android platforms of Logos. I also heard about NIV no longer being available on those platforms as well.
2. I wasn't comfortable getting a iPad or Android mobile platform for Logos with the thought in mind that any of the resources I have that are currently available on the mobile platforms may no longer be available later on due to licensing issues. That's a headache I didn't want to have to deal with. At least I know that what I can access in Libronix, I'll continue to access in the future in Libronix on the Fujitsu tablet running Windows 7.
3. Not all of the available Logos resources on the iPad and Android mobile platforms can be downloaded directly to those devices. I didn't want to deal with the limitation of only being able to access certain books via an active internet connection on the tablet.
4. The Passage Guide feature on the mobile platforms require an internet connection. That's another limitation I didn't want to deal with. Running Libronix on the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550, with all the resources I want on there, allows me to use the Passage Guide feature which will locally scan through the resources that are on there.
I also use Microsoft OneNote for notetaking and journaling. To have that available on the same device with Libronix is a huge help to me.
It should be noted that the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 tablet is not the most speedy device. Because it runs Windows 7, it does not have the quick responsiveness that the iPad or Android devices have. Again, its performance is equivalent to a netbook. But it's more than capable of handling the full functionality of Libronix. I haven't tried it with Logos 4, but I don't think the specs of this tablet would be suitable for it (it meets minimum required specs, but not recommended specs).
The Fujitsu tablet is just under 2 pounds and is available with either 30 GB or 62 GB solid state drive space. Windows 7 does take up space on there, so if there's any consideration of getting this tablet, the 62 GB version would be recommended. The tablet does also include a USB slot and SD card slot for further expansion.
Anyway, just wanted to bring this setup to others' attention in case anyone considers it and wanted to know the pros and cons of it.
