I would really like to be able to check off resources I've read/looked through in the guides.

    The best way to do this is export the guide to Word. All the links will be preserved. then as you read a resource you can delete it from the Word document.

    <Edit> But I do hear what you are saying. This feature would be nice. You can star the resources you have read in a Passage guide, though.
