Logos term payments

I'd like to see a better deal for students (and for others on low income).
I don't know what the situation is like in your country but in Australia our situation is fairly common. My wife is the only earner in our house and last financial year (ended June 30) had a taxable income of $16429. I'm a student on a disability pension and get around $267 a fortnight. At the moment we can't even afford to run a car, let alone buy one.
I'm starting an M Div at Tabor Adelaide second semester this year and the Portfolio collection and the Zondervan Bible Reference Bundle would be very helpful. I got on to academic and asked for a five year term to buy them as I figured that we could afford $90 a month. I was told the deal was 12 months at $417.72 a month.
I feel that the Logos policy is very shortsighted. It has an academic program but prices collections beyond the reach of students. I know I could buy individual titles but that defeats the purpose of collections.
I ask that those who set policy at Logos have a good, hard look at this situation.

If M Div program requires Logos 4 resources, then academic price is lower.
One option for spreading payments over many years is spreading out purchases (gradually expand library over several years).
Noticed Logos Newswire had a sale last month for => Nelson Bible Reference Bundle (200 vols.) [WBC, Preacher’s, and More!] (could ask about Scholar's and Nelson bundle for 1st year; not know if sale price could be extended with Scholar's purchase).
Future purchases could be: upgrade to Scholar's Platinum; upgrade to Scholar's Portfolio; purchase Zondervan Bible Reference bundle. May want to save money for resource purchases since Logos charges $ 5 per monthly payment.
By the way, community pricing offers best resource value:
http://www.logos.com/products/search?Status=Community+Pricing&start=&sort=progrless&pageSize=30
Logos user community bids on public domain resources. Once enough bids have been placed to cover estimated production costs; a closing is scheduled: more community bids can reduce overall price for everyone. Once bidding closes, community price is converted into a pre-publication order, which can be cancelled before resource ships. The pre-publication price will be higher; followed by another price increase when resource ships. Credit card is charged when resource ships; have 30 days to examine resource (and request order cancellation and refund).
Logos sale prices typically are higher than pre-publication price.

Kym,
You stated a budget limit of $90/month and Logos currently has a limit of 12 months for their payment plans. If you were to get Scholar's Silver plus the BDAG/HALOT combination (something I saw in another thread as a requirement for entrance to seminary at Moody's in Chicago) you should be able to stay within budget with a student discount, I would think. That should give you sufficient commentaries and reference resources to get started, at least. Comments from other forum members with seminary experience could speak better to that, though. Then, in following years you could make whatever strategic additions needed, Lord willing. That is essentially what I have done with the resources God has provided me (though I started out with the Original Languages base package) and it has worked out wonderfully. I hope this idea is of some help.

Observation: BDAG is included with Scholar's Platinum and Portfolio. HALOT is included in Portfolio.
Densely packed information in BDAG can be challenging to read => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/32633/243659.aspx#243659 Also can post resource questions in General forum for insights and comparison: e.g. Liddel & Scott OR BDAG
Possible addition for Scholar's Platinum is Advanced Hebrew Supplement (11 vols.) that includes HALOT.
Thankful for Hebrew supplemental web site http://michaelsheiser.com/HWH.htm for Beginning Biblical Hebrew (included in Original Languages, then Scholar's Gold and above).
Wiki has Adding New Resources to Logos 4 (includes older Libronix 3 CD resource licenses, which are usable in Logos 4).

thanks
I thought that you couldn't get sales items on term payments but after looking through my emails it's pre-pub items you can't get on term. I had already asked Logos about extending the sale period for the Nelson Bible Reference Bundle but I don't think I've got any chance of getting the full price together. I have asked if sales items can be bought on term and will go that way if possible.
I know about the pre-pub and community price books and have several on order

Logos' usefulness for me really expanded when I got Platinum, after I graduated from seminary. Silver is a good starting place, it has some good things in it.
BDAG and HALOT will be most useful to a student if they are in/taking Greek and Hebrew courses, and then (if Kym's program is anything like mine) only in the 3rd semester or later of the language. The lexicons included in the Scholar's and above will give adequate glosses for the just-learning-the-language phase.
I bought the print version of BDAG for my 3rd semester of Greek but didn't really use it, it sat almost unused until my exegesis classes.
With this in mind I would suggest starting with Gold (if the academic discount gets it to $90 a month) and wait for BDAG and HALOT until you're ready. Your school's library should have print copies for any lookup you might need before you get them. This would also allow time to see if your finances change allowing a Platinum/Portfolio upgrade in subsequent years.
