I recently got into a discussion with one of the support folks about notes. I've been using notes since early versions of Logos / Libronix. I've brought my notes through each upgrade and now I'm running Logos 4 on a Macbook Pro with 4 GB of RAM.
On a large notes file (> 100 notes linked to bible verses and devotionals), there are a number of issues.
- When I create a note, the blank note is created but the cursor doesn't show up and I can't find where the note is created.
- When I type in the note, the display is a full second or two behind the keystroke.
- When I'm not editing or creating a note, and I try to scroll down or up in the notes file, screens show up blank or missing text. If I scroll down 1 page, text overwrites other text. If I scroll down two pages, part of the screen is blank. If I scroll down about 5 pages and then scroll back up a page, I can see most of the notes on that page.
- I can't change the order of the notes (which I think I saw elsewhere is a "feature"
I noticed someone say that the file size might have something to do with it. So I dragged 6 notes into a new file. I dragged 3 notes into another one. The results are:
- When I create a note, the cursor doesn't show up but because I only have 6 notes in the file, I can find my place. I still have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA why it chose that location.
- Typing still lags but I'm not sure if it's more or less.
- When I scroll down a page, the same behavior is exhibited.
- Even though the system seems to choose where the note goes, I can't move it, or I can't figure out how to.
I've read the wiki and I've been through the forums. I also read the beta notes. Is this behavior normal or am I special in some way? And is it really true that they're not fixing any of these issues again?
