Open Resources in Logos 3 while I wait...

I have a mac and just upgraded to the platinum version. It downloaded 7.5 gig in a few hours just fine but has been indexing for about 20 hours and says it has 45 hours left. While I want to play around with Logos 4 is there a way to open my new books in the Logos 3 for mac so I can have a stable version if Logos 4 is being weird?

Hi, not sure about what you are asking.

You are running L4mac Alpha.

There is no Version 3 native to Mac, only a version 1.2.2. Is the native Mac version the one you want to run? Yes, you can download and install it.

Sorry for not being clear.

I just downloaded the L4mac Alpha (and I upgraded to the Platinum from the Macarthur Lifeworks Library) and it is still indexing and whatnot.

I am wondering if I can use my new resources on the previous mac version 1.2.2 as I play around with the L4 alpha.

Yes, you can use the resources in 1.2.2, or if you want you can even use the Windows version on a PC.

I am not exactly sure how to download the right package for 1.2.2. So if someone from Logos does not reply here with instructions, call sales tomorrow and get some instructions.

I did notice a comment on the Logos for Mac disclaimer page that they would make a download for 1.2.2 available "later", but I am not sure what that means. I thought it was available now for all those who have the Mac version.

I missed that note. This is helpful for Mac only users of Logos 4 because if they aren't running the new Windows version, there are new resources in version 4 that they can't use in 1.2.2.

They have already done this in a round-about way. Mac Engine is now available either for download or by post.

Just order the Mac Engine from Logos as per normal. The price has dropped to $0, so anyone can afford it. Looks like this is available for this price publicly.

I've downloaded and installed it OK, but now to connect to the resources. Anyone know whether I need to re-dowload resources in an earlier format?

At the moment, I have no resources, although I have connected to my logos account OK.

I can't reuse the resources from Logos 4.

I think the only way to downgrade on a Mac if you've bought Logos 4 is

"Buy" the Mac Engine for free
register the Mac Engine (request Logos to email a registration key)
log in to the website and download the resources manually
put them all in place on the mac (in /Library/Application Support/Libronix DLS/Resources)

The resource files from Logos 4 with .logos4 extension are a different format, and cannot be used with the older Mac engine.

There's two more steps to add to your list. After you download the resources, then:

Select Tools > Library Management > Sync Licenses
Restart Libronix

put them all in place on the mac (in /Library/Application Support/Libronix DLS/Resources)

If you burn the resources onto a DVD, you can insert the DVD into your drive and Logos will automatically install them for you. I once downloaded the whole of the contents on the Logos FTP server and then burned them onto four disks. (This was part of an experiment to see which resources were not installed on my computer because the Gold DVD didn't have everything on it).

This has come in handy because now now that I have upgraded to Logos 4, I have used these DVDs to install new resources. There are probably a few things on the FTP server that I don't have, but it's close enough for now.
