After Closing Logos 4 my cpu monitor shows 50% or more usage

I have a Dual core 3.06, 8gb of ram, Nvidia gt130 (lol not the greatest), Windows 7, and have a performance base score of 5.9, which is for hard drive transfer rate, while all the others are 6.6 to 6.8, the scale being 1.0 to 7.9.

While I have read the fixes for running or performance I have not seen any related to the resource usage after Logos4 is shut down.

I also rigged a short cut to get rid of unwanted dll's to help with this but doesn't seem to work well with Logos4

Any comments questions or concerns please feel free to lend your expertise to this area.

I have never seen my cpu stay high after I exit Logos 4 unless the indexer is still running (it's a separate process). Where does your Task Manager or Performance Monitor tell you the cpu cycles are going? Is the Logos4.exe still running after you exit the program? If so it would be interesting to see logs capturing such an event.

One thing that I know for sure happens in Mac, but is also characteristic of Windows is that closing a program doesn't mean that all of one's RAM is freed up either. Since there's some memory built into the CPUs as well, perhaps it's still holding onto something too. There's usually a delay before the process fully closes. The reserved memory allows for a faster startup if you need to restart the program.

Also the question might be asked as to what else you have running at the same time. Most everyone likes to have a browser in near constant use and they can gobble resources especially with multiple tabs or windows open.

So it took awhile to find it but its a

"PresentationFontCache.exe" which is a wait chain that was taking 49-53 % of the cpu AFTER I shut down logos. Now I understand technical stuff but how it was explained via internet is not making sense combined with the fact that it happens only after I shut logos down...

in other words presentation fonts and logos makes no sense to me..lol..

but after i suspended the process everything went back to normal...I don't want to shut it down as I'm not entirely sure what would happen...

Extra piece of information is that after I un-suspend proces it goes right back up to 50ish %.

As stated before only way to get my cpu back is to re start......:/ -- Also ending the process is the only thing that sends cpu usage back down to normal

Ok, James that makes a little more sense.

One of the technologies that Logos is built on is WPF, I believe PresentationFontCache.exe is a component of that technology. Once, when I called into Logos tech support they walked me through clearing the font cache as a potential solution.

I don't remember how the Logos tech had me do it but this thread on an other forum: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/2e47b80a-1423-466f-873a-8536a64ebe3c/ might be helpful.

Alternatively you could call Logos tech support and they should be able to walk you through it pretty easily.
