on mac: startup music playing but no home page

I start up the logos mac page and the startup music starts but it does not start up or the homepage does not come on.  What is going on?

Puzzling, wonder if can startup to a blank layout, see wiki => Logos Not Starting

Also wonder what is in diagnostic log files ? (when Homepage fails to display)
