after 4 days of wasted time- get rid of it
Whyndell,
Did you ever give Logos tech support a call about your issues?
Tried calling and sent emails- obviously they are overwhelmed from the amount of problems posted here.
Whyndell, did you install with the DVD? If not, I'd try ordering that and installing, it should at least prevent the initial 10GB download (hopefully) then all you would have to worry about is indexing. I indexed in 2 different increments for a total of 7 to 8 hours and I'm thinking you probably have a lot more resources than I do.
Definitely worth a call to Logos support. If you get the program up and running I think you'll be pretty pleased with it after the initial getting used to it period.

Hey Whyndell,
I can understand your frustration and if it weren't for the 10+ years that I have been using Libronix, I might have done the same after uninstalling and re-installing last nite. I have had an excellent history using Logos products and only wish that I would have purchased electronic resources going through Bible college rather than paper whic I have since given away.
I am originally from south Tampa and it is good to hear of an awesome church in Brandon. Best wishes to you however your proceed with Logos 4.
Don
I have noticed on my laptop as well that even though I have the Plat- I am missing a lot of resources and cannot figure out how to get the files for them, they did not download on install or update.
I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hope once the dust settles a bit you will be able to get in contact with Logos and work things out. I hope at the least in a couple of months you give L4 another try I feel certain, after seeing the heart of the developers to get things right, that it will be more finely retuned with additional features as well. I would suggest, if your going this route, to ask for a refund and ask that the same discount you wanted to enjoy now will be made available then.
Thanks Don- have been with Logos since 94 I think.
Its my PC desktop thats the issue- the laptop took a while 15 hours but it did finally install- though still missing resources.
I just for the 2nd time uninstalled L4, deleted all the files and now will attempt for the 3RD TIME to do this.
Time is at a premium, it really should not have this much trouble- a warning in bold print advising customers to reall get the DVD would have been nice- awarning "it may take a long time" does not cover the download issues at all.
a warning "it may take a long time" does not cover the download issues at all.
It most certainly does not.
In Beta for a very short time, we received the message "very, very long time" during library preparation - I liked it because it was honest...
There definitely needs to have been more disclosure about some of the serious issues that users could experience during the install process. After so many weeks of Beta, every possible problem was known, the anxiety of first time users was heard, I simply cannot imagine why nothing about possible difficulties was communicated (eg. Windows Updates on automatic install may cause a restart of indexing)
I am attempting to reinstall my Plat upgrade again on the desktop- but I still am unable to get files for the resources that did not download in the original install on my laptop.
Unless the files on the FTP site also work in L4
LOL - just got the ol' "Preparing to Download- This may take a while" [:D]
Talk about an understatement. I was surprised since I started my re-install about 8 pm or so last night and it was finished at 6 am. I am also keeping my Libronix 3.0f very handy just in case. I heard the same thing from Logos when I called about ordering the DVD. That will only eliminate the need for downloading the small portion but the resources will still have to go through the multiple hour process. Do you know if you make a copy of the Logos 4 folder (especially the Data portion) that you can just stop the downloading of resources again, copy the information back onto your hard drive, and pick up from there? I have an external hard drive and just copied my resources and if need be, I will do that next time but hoping there won't be a next time.
