Ukrainian Bible on Logos?
Hi there,
I'm an American missionary serving in Ukraine, and I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to help make a full translation of the Ukraine Bible available on Logos. The most widely accepted and used version here in Ukraine is the Ivan Ohienko translation which is freely available online (http://bibleonline.ru/bible/ukr/ | http://www.ukrainian-bible.co.uk/) and in other Bible software (e-Sword, YouVersion). Another good translation in Ukrainian is that of Kulisha (also available on YouVersion).
I am aware that there is a version of the Ukrainian NT from WBTC available on Logos, but I cannot use this due to the fact that it is a VERY simplified/modernized version of the text. Not really a translation but more like a paraphrase. Most Christians I know would not accept it as actual Scripture.
I would love to see the Ohienko and/or Kulisha translations in the Logos library. Is there a procedure for submitting material to Logos? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Joshua, is "Ivan Ohienko translation" in the public domain ie not in copyright?
sadly freely avaiable doesnt mean its free for us to make a bible of, but with Personal Books, if its out of copyright then someone may be willingh to assist you make it

Yes, so far as I understand the Ivan Ohienko translation is in the public domain. It is already in use with many other Bible software makers, notably YouVersion.com. See this link for more info -->http://www.youversion.com/versions/ubio

Send an email to : suggest@logos.com These requests do get to the product managers who occupy these kind of requests, however often the answer is no simply for business reasons. Just because a Bible is freely available online and popular, that doesn't mean it is out copyright (in fact this version according to wikipedia was published in 1958).
Faithlife would need to get a contract from the publisher and put the ressource up for pre-pub in order to justify the cost of putting it into the Logos format.

Given the distribution of Christians in Ukraine, I would expect an Orthodox translation to gain traction more easily. Use Roadmap | Faithlife to submit suggestions.

I believe Faithlife is still offering a free Ukrainian New Testament.

Unfortunately, it is neither the whole Bible, nor a very good translation.

Wasn't one of the issues that FL wanted someone who knew the language for a product they released? That would make sense if so.

I'm curious what's progress on this. Ohienko translation is in public domain and can be easily included.

Khomenka being used in Orthodox tradidion while Ohienka being used in many Protestant confessions (like myself).

Ohienko Bible is not in the Public Domain (CC-BY-SA owned by Ukrainian Bible Society, see here), but Bible Kulish is!
By GOD's Amazing Grace we are working to make a fixed digital copy of that Bible translation. However i don't have any Ukrainians who would help proofread the text (align the digital text with how it is written in the printed Bible). If you wanna help, please text me at seesmwork@gmail.com.
If the LORD JESUS is willing, i will try making a revision of that text to a modern language once the proofreading of the original is done. It will be Public Domain also so if you wanna help with that, please reach out also.

In the article you provided, there are 2 Bible mentioned. UHT and UBT. And which one is the OhienkoLIO (Licht im Ostern version?) Or is the OhienkoLIO also different one.

Bible Kulish with current fixes is stored on this page in many different formats and in this repository under Original folder in USFM format. You can view it formatted on eBible.org.
In the article the UBT i think is a mistranslation of the Ukrainian Bible Society abbreviation (try using DeepL translator, if you translate the first 3 paragraphs, it shouldn't limit you in any way even when not logged in, that one should be more accurate). There might be two versions of Ohienko Bible though, one published around 1930 and another in 1960s, but im not sure what's the difference between those two or where to find the older version.
