PBB- docx fromat for making a Bible with the apocrypha

Hi,

What is the trick to making a Bible with the apocrypha? In this case it may be a little even trickier since the Bible I am trying to make is not the Catholic version but the Eastern Orthodox version. I managed to make the popular Cornilescu translation used by the Romanian Protestants but I would also like to make an Eastern Orthodox version.

Gheorghe, I made Polish Catholic Bible and used @BibleNAB verse mapping. I had to change a number of places to make it work. I am still trying to find right versification system for the Slovak Catholic Bible. The thing is to find the right one.

Sorry I was not clear enough in my previous post.

To apply a versification mapping system to your PBB Bible you simply use the different names of that mapping in your Milestones. So instead of putting [[@Bible:Gen 1:1]] as your milestone you put let's say: [[@BibleNAB:Gen 1:1]] to use New American Bible verse mapping system. You can open both Bibles next to each other and link them and go through places that hadn't been compiled with the regular [[@Bible: milestones. You will see what Bible is the closest. The easiest way to go through the compiled PBB Bible to find unprocessed Milestones is to open CTRL+F find tool and write @ into the search field. This way you go through all places that were not processed.

You find a mapping system in a given Bible by right-clicking any word in the given Bible, clicking Reference and using Search this Resource command. In the search line you see the mapping of that Bible. If you do that in ESV, you will see "BibleESV" in the search line.

Hello,

You were clear enough but not for someone who knows as little as I do. :-) After the second reply everything is a lot more clear. I've tried a few things on my own and it looks like the task of making a Romanian Eastern Orthodox Bible will be a lot more challenging than I thought. For example, almost all of the book of Psalms must be remapped since the Eastern Orthodox combine Psalms 9 and 10 into one Psalm (Psalm 9) and the numbering off all the rest of the Psalms is shifted all the way to Psalm 146 which the Eastern Orthodox split into Psalms 146 and 147. Some of the same occurs in the apocrypha. I should probably ask if some poor soul has managed to do this already :-). If not It looks like I have a lot of work cut out for myself.

Don't know about the different bible tagging sets, however, that the Psalm numbers are one off is also something that you'll see e.g. in the Latin vulgate bible - maybe the corresponding tagging set might be a way to go foward, if no one can point you towards a better one.

One more question. What do you do with the sections that end up not being compiled? In my case I found a bible that was a pretty close match. I still ended up with sections such as the following:

30. Că Dumnezeu este partea moștenirii lui.
31. Și Finees, fiul lui Eleazar, al treilea este întru mărire, râvnind el întru frica Domnului.
[[@BibleRST:Sirach 45:32]]32. Că a stat, când s-a abătut poporul, cu bunătatea și sârguința sufletului său și s-a rugat pentru Israel.
[[@BibleRST:Sirach 45:33]]33. Pentru aceea i-a pus lui legătura de pace, înainte-stătător celor sfinte și poporului Său, ca să fie lui și seminției lui mărirea preoției în veci.

What I do George is to find the closest Bible possible (especially Psalms are important since if there are differences there, it usually are many places to change). In the places I still need to do some change I do it manually. I try to see what is the text of the corresponding verse in the other Bible and adjust the verse numbering to match it. Sometimes it is just one verse split into two. I use the same verse twice than. In some places it means to shift verses by one in the whole chapter.

The good thing is that once you do that, your verses will be matching the other Bibles not simply by verse numbers but by real content of those verses.

EDITED P.S. Be sure you make backup of your file before you start manual changes. To change [[@BibleRST: to any other is very easy. But to re-do all your manual changes back and use other mapping system might be really difficult.
