PBB: Language of bible milestones

I'm a Swedish user using the English UI. I find it easier.

I've
been given permission and access to docx-files containing preaching
material from Svensk Pastoraltidskrift. I'm compiling the material as
type Bible Commentary. In the PBB dialog I choose Swedish for language
which is great because Logos, when compiling, auto-detects most Swedish
language abbreviations for Bible books.

However it took me quite some time (and frustration) before I realised that the bible milestones should also use the Swedish abbreviations.

I have two questions:

1) Are my assumptions correct (from trial and error but still not completely sure):

-
that Swedish abbreviations should always be used in the bible
milestones if the PB is assigned Swedish as language?

-
that even running English UI the PG of Logos will find and recognise
Bible Commentary tagged using Swedish abbreviations? This surprised me
but seems indeed to be the case.

I need to make sure before I choose which way to go and start compiling bigger chunks of material.

2) Ebbe, Thomas, some other Swedish user, or you guys at Logos: do you have a complete list
of Swedish abbreviations for Bible books recognised by Logos (incl variants)?
That would be most useful.

Thanks!

Trial and error, but see below.

do you have a complete list
of Swedish abbreviations for Bible books recognised by Logos (incl variants)?

You can discover that by copying a book's location with Ctrl+Alt+C (using URL or WIKI method) and then pasting.

Here is a link to a thread with a screen dump containing the list of Swedish bible book abbreviations. (But HV is not working and three books from the apochrypa as well): http://community.logos.com/forums/t/36592.aspx

I haven't tested but I think Logos depends on your OS language setting. When you choose language in the PB dialog it has nothing to with in what way Logos interpret the milestone tags.

As far as I know Ebbe, it does have something to do with the language set in the PBB resource. We do not have a Czech UI lang. But still I have to use Czech Bible abbrev. If I set language to Czech. It doesn't work however in all languages this way. For instance in Polish I have to use English abbrev. although the language is set to Polish. I think Logos is adding step by step new sets of Bible abbreviations.
What I do to find the working abbrev. I create a simple document and put all possible abbrev. And see which ones work. Usually Wikipedia is good source of abbreviations for a given language.

Edited: I noticed just now you are speaking about the OS language. It is interesting. I need to look into it more. It would make sense with me having to use Czech abbrev. in the PBB but English in Polish ones. However, if I set langage to English in the PBB tool, I have to use English ones.

Thanks Ebbe and others! Very useful link, Ebbe. I've downloaded your txt-file.

However, I DO think it matters what language you choose in the PBB dialog. This one really had me confused. I checked and double-checked to make sure all my bible milestones were correct. I compiled my Swedish language book and they just wouldn't work. I then tried using Swedish abbreviations in the bible milestones and voilá, there it was - working perfectly and appearing in PG and other types of searches.

So it does seem to matter. Whether or not the language of the OS matters I don't know. My OS is in Swedish but I run Logos with the English UI.

Thanks Dave. However, using imageimagethat method with any of my five Swedish Bible translations I will only get the English abbreviations. It may be because I run the English UI of Logos.

It looks to me Dave that it shows intern Logos reference that is always English. I tried my PBB that I made in Czech and I had to use Czech abbreviations and after being compiled it shows English abbrev. in the CTRL+ALT+C command. When I changed Logos UI for Swedish, it doesn't change the way it works with the  CTRL+ALT+C.

Thanks Bohuslav. It appears that we are still on a voyage of discovery!
