PBB causes index crash & any chance of a video tutorial?

Dear friends,

I'm having real trouble creating PBBs within Logos.

I'd really like to catalogue and incorporate sermons and magazine articles, but every time I try to do this,firstly Logos wants to index the article and crashes in the middle of the process, throwing up an error box inviting me to 'close the programme' and secondly I'm finding it really hard to produce a document that's anyway useful, containing chapter headings and search capability. I know it's a big ask but if anyone could produce a tutorial video on PBB's I'd really appreciate it!

I've got to the point where I don't really know what I'm doing and have lost all confidence with this aspect of Logos 4.3. I found the old sermon addin a lot easier to get right. I'm sorry if this sounds like a complaint but I'm just a bit frustrated - with myself mainly!

Have you successfully created any PB's yet? I know that the book you are working on might have formatting that you want to keep, but try this: 

1) save a copy (so you don't lose your work)

2) select EVERYTHING in the document 

3) clear the formatting completely. 

4) make sure the document is a .docx

5) try to build the book.

I was working with someone else last week and the glitch turned out to be something in the formatting on a single character. I was able to do something similar for a 500 page book I was working on.

As for videos, you should check out Morris Proctor's Quick Clips on PBB's. It will have to do until Mark Barnes has a chance to make one of his own. [;)]

Also, if the book is not of a sensitive nature, feel free to upload it here. I need to get cracking on a job interview survey, but perhaps someone else would take a look if I can't get back to it soon enough.

See this wiki article as using the proper Syntax should stop the crashes. Note that when you Build a book it is always indexed but should only take a minute or so.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply and pointing me in the right direction. I've watched Morris Proctor's Quick Clips and have been able to successfully create some PBBs. It seems easy when you know how - but it just wasn't clear to me in the first instance. I believe my source files were too heavily formatted causing the indexer to crash and using styles/headings in Word was also new to me. Now all is working fine and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Many thanks to 'alabama24'  and others. [:D]
