It was good to find this.
It was hard for me to cancel Newman in Prepub, and now I find that he will be included in the
Catholic Library Builder (238 vols.)
It will be interesting to see how they calculate discounts for what we already own in this collection.
It is also interesting that this Collection is not in Pre-pub, while Newman collection is still Pre-pub :-)
Do you think they will? It doesn't seem they have done that in the past, albeit with smaller collections.
It does seem that most of the resources in this collection have already been available, I see a few things that are new.
This kind of Collection is frustrating for existing users - it really doesn't map well to what someone should do if they have been buying Catholic resources previously. Some guidance would really be appreciated.
Around Christmas there were some Library Builders, and they were without discounts, too.
OK I went through everything, here is the list. Everything else is already available, you may have already purchased them all.
I have also put the prepub prices next to each offering, plus there is one group of titles not on prepub yet. As you can see, purchasing the currently available prepubs alone is $320, less than the $395 price. So I guess it depends what the unannounced prepubs go for?
On Prepub: (Gathering Interest; $29.95)
On Prepub: A Manual of Councils of the Holy Catholic Church $29.95
On Prepub: John Henry Newman Collection $159.95
On Prepub: Dogmatic Theology $99.95
Files Coming soon but not available on PrePub:
Thanks, Dominic for the work.
I see this included in builder "Catholic Spirituality Collection" - 119.95
So it's a large part of the sum, and I don't own this collection yet.
As someone who has spent well over the price of this collection on pre pubs that are included and was planning to also buy the Newman collection I feel like Logos have completely undermined their pricing model here and have destroyed all confidence that they value me as a customer. They may want to chase a new Market here but they could have some respect for existing loyal customers.well I am cancelling the Newman pre pub and my upgrade to Portfolio, Logos are having no more of my money.
Mike -
Have you tried calling and speaking to a sales rep?

I must say I agree whole heartedly. I guess i will have to call customer service.

Well, I bit. I had probably 60 percent of the collection already. But there was enough value in the other 40 percent for me.
I'm tempted, but one thing gives me pause. With this collection being a shipping product that includes some prepubs and also "Files Coming soon but not available on PrePub" is that it will be harder to keep track of what I've still got coming to me that I've paid for already. With prepubs, you don't pay until they ship, and you can always check your orders page to see what you're still waiting for. With this collection, once we pay for it, who knows how long we'll have to wait for it to be complete, and will we even remember what we're waiting for? What if they never get enough orders for some of the prepubs included herein, or some hang-up happens between Logos and the publisher, and they decide to cancel them? Will we be left hanging? Will we get part of our money back? All of this is unclear.
Hi Rosie, great to hear from you again. You have been greatly missed! Please do drop in and contribute often in the forum.
Hello everyone. This collection was actually put together with theexisting users in mind. Because there are no Catholic-oriented basepackages, users who are interested in Catholic products have for a verylong time had to purchase them individually, painstakingly building up aCatholic-oriented library one title at time. This collection is an attempt atremedying this situation. We know that most of our Catholic-oriented users willhave already purchased parts of this collection and what we are trying to do isgive them a deal through which they can acquire those parts which they don'talready own. Whenever new base packages come out, there are titles within itthat users had purchased at a higher price. This is a similar situation. If youlook at the pricing of the Catholic Library Builder, you will see that itfollows the basic pricing model of base packages. Nevertheless, itis awkward. In order to reduce this, we do have a series of discounts forthe Library Builder in place for anyone who has made a large purchase of any ofits component parts. Please call a sales rep if you fall into this category. We hoped that by releasingthis collection now, we would be giving our existing Catholic-oriented users andopportunity to take advantage of a base-package-style deal.

I have to admit that my jaw unhinged and hit the floor when I saw this offer. There is some serous fire power in it. Chesterton, Aquinas, J.H. Newman, the early fathers? I do not know know were to start. Like some others I have some of these (and some were in my Christmas list). It will take me a couple of days to digest this announcement but this is definitely going to deserve an entry in the blog!

I went ahead and ordered, as the cost of the prepubs plus what I don't have was a greater cost - a no brainer for me.
HOWEVER - the book Losing the Sacred: Ritual, Modernity and Liturgical Reform did not come through! Has anyone seen this, what's up?
I emailed by sales guy...
I also did not get that licence. I e-mailed customer service.
Andrew I think this is a great package and I am delighted that it has been offered. I am a long time Logos user and own many of the resources, however, I strongly support this package because it offers an inexpensive means for new Catholic users to be introduced to Logos. My only suggestion would be to more visibly highlight this package before existing users purchase those resources currently on pre-pub and due to be shipped soon.
Is there a time limit for the Catholic Library Builder's price of $395? Will this collection remain available for some time?
Thanks in advance . . . Scott

There's no indication that it's a limited time offer so I'd expect it to be available for a while
Thanks M.J.
Tks for the feedback and offer to work with folks to consider legacy investments in sub-sets of this bundle. I'm one of the ones who have bought many of the items bundled here, and I think I paid more than this price--my point is that for folks (especially non-Protestant [;)] ) who want to start a library, this is a really good price.
My only suggestion is that Logos build a calculator that considers the current library one owns and makes an "upgrade" price to fill in the missing parts of a bundle offering--like was done for the package conversion to V4. I'm casually interested in offerings like this, and am easily put off by the need to perform comprehensive self-service analysis in order to determine whether a deal is good or not, and which resources I own or not. I'm recollecting the big Christmas bundle from (last?) year--had other Logos users not done all that work for me, I'd probably not have purchased it (which I did).

I like running the numbers but if it were not for the many days Praiser put in on the spreadsheets and Word documents, many would not have been able to see the value of the Christmas specials.

The Evangelical Exegetical Commentary purchase is a similar situation. On the bottom of my order page, under "downloadable Libronix files", it starts the list like this:
We don't have ship dates or even authors assigned to the whole series yet. I imagine Logos has a firm commitment to see the Catholic resources out the door very soon. At least quicker than 2019!

Thank you Andrew & Logos,
I'm another of those non-Catholic users who likes to read widely. I missed out on Chesterton and Butler's Lives of the Saints when they left Pre-Pub. This really helps me. Is there any deadline on the bundle pricing?
There are currently no plans to discontinue the Catholic Library Builder or to change the price.
It is going to be a very happy Christmas...Yes indeed!!![:D]
Well, I just payed about 40% of the advertised price for about 40% of the included volumes (i've been having severe indexing problems, which has stopped me from buying sooner). Though unfortunately the expensive AYBRL volumes were among those I already had, so it's not quite as good in value as it looks in volume. But still, I got them for almost exactly the same price/volume as my overall average, and that's one of the lowest around, so I shan't complain. (Well, provided those promised volumes are released within reasonable time...)
Customer service gave me a good enough discount, based on what I already owned from the collection, that I was able to cancel enough pre-pubs from the collection to more than pay for the full collection. I ended up not only saving money to get what I had already intended to add, but also getting thrown in free a couple of additional collections that I had regretted not getting earlier on pre-pub, plus the promise of those listed as "to be published" which were never available seperately on pre-pub. Yes, I probably paid more for the earlier pre-pubs I did get than if I had waited and known this package would be offered, but then again I seem to remember a very recent Lectionary reading about hired workers and agreeing to the usual daily wage...... I still got a better deal than I had originally expected. [;)]
