I have being playing with this for a while but it looks lik I will have to tag all the commentaries I want in the collection, or just choose them everytime a use passage guide.
Anyone have any ideas?
Could you describe the kind of commentaries you want in the collection? You can drag the ones you want from teh library to the collection you're creating.
I'm not sure how you are using this collection in the PG either.
What I think you should do instead is prioritize your commentaries using the library's priortize list. The commentaries you put on there will appear first in the Commentaries section of the PG.
The Collections section in the PG, on the other hand, does a full text search of the resources in that collection for the passage. It may not be what you're expecting.
in v3 I had favorite commentaries collection, which I used in passage guide instead of "all commentaries", but prioritizing them will work just as well, I guess, just hate having the comm's I don't use pop up all the time. And I hate having to keep clicking more all the time.
Wyndell,
To answer your question I did this by rating the individual commentaries with 5 stars. Easiest way for me was to display 'Series' in my Library, click on that heading to order by the series name, then open the series I knew the resources were in, gang highlight them using the CTRL key and assign the rating. A Tag would do the same thing.
Then for a dynamic search term in that collection I used Type:commentary Rating:5 (Tag:xxx if you choose tagging rather than rating) which brought all of them in, and will ensure others you tag/rate later get included.
As Todd said, this collection will not be as useful as it was in 3.0 because of the crippling of the PG in 4.0.
And I hate having to keep clicking more all the time.
Add me to your list of those who don't like this (or the crippled PG options), too.
I would love to have the ability, when setting up a passage guide template, to define how many commentaries I want to initially load. I can certainly see the benefit of that. 999 means give me um all, 9 means give my my favs. Makes sense to me and I can't imagine it being too complicated to do. But there are more pressing fixes to make first.
Thanks Mark
I will try this and see how it works for me.
I do miss all the other features in the old PG
Mark
I tagged a couple series with "Mycomm" how do I get these prioritized to come up first in PG or the Home Page search function?
You don't need to tag them to prioritize them. You can right click on the resource and select "Prioritize this resource". Or you can click on "Prioritize" in the library window to open the list of prioritized/preferred resources, and drag the resources to the list. Once you have them in the list you can drag them to rearrange them.
See this thread for more info on prioritization: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/2270/17157.aspx#17157
(not sure if you can see that link..it's in the beta forum, try this one, if you can't: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3472/26685.aspx#26685)
Tag:xxx if you choose tagging
I believe you have to use "mytag:" not "tag:".
Correct.
