Scrolling Problem: scroll down goes down 4 lines (good), then jumps back up 2 lines (not good).

When I am doing my "Read through the Bible" I use the mouse scroll wheel to advance the text. It is set to scroll four lines at a time. Occasionally it works without a hitch, but generally as I'm reading the NET Bible it will scroll down and then jump back up. Though that is usually down 4 lines, and then jump back up 2 lines, not even that is consistent. It is hard to keep track of where I am and when I have reached the top of the window again with my current reading location.

Arnet,
I have not run into this, I also use a scroll wheel.
To clarify is it only the NET that does this?

Make sure your column setting is set to "none" (not one or auto column), I just went through something similar. See if the settings for column is at "none", because it was causing all kinds of weird problems for me on the other two settings.

I have tabs open for the following Bibles: NET, ESV, NKJV, Complete Jewish Bible, BHS/WIVU
Starting with NET a tab at a time
NET jumped
ESV did not
NKJV and CJB jumped
BHS/WIVU did not jump.
Then I went backwards from BHS/WIVU all the way to NET and none of them jumped when I scrolled down.
After writing the above, I started back again from NET to BHS/WIVU and when I got to CJB it started jumping again.
Then Backwards from BHS/WIVU to NET again and CJB is still jumping and NET is jumping again.
I am using a Logitech cordless mouse on an HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7.

Columns were already set to none. Setting them to auto did not affect the problem one way or another. I made sure I set it back to "none."

I would report to tech support, it sounds like you have some type of bug.

I agree with MJD.
However in addition I think Diagnosting Logging is in order too. Please enable Logging (http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging), re-create the problem and upload your logs (http://wiki.logos.com/Uploading_Logs) so we can take a look.
Thanks.

Attached is a zip file with two logs in it. In the earlier log the problem with the text jumping didn't crop up until near the end of the session. In the later log the problem with the text jumping when I scroll showed up almost immediately.
Scroll down one click, the text advances four lines and then jumps back two, etc.
Thank You,
Arnet

Arnet,
I'm not seeing anything useful in the log (to me). But then I'm not a programmer either. I did note that several resources are set to different font sizes and it got me wondering about your video card. The fact that it doesn't show up till later in the first log, but does show up immediately in the second log could possibly indicate something related to the video memory... (????)
I'm going to reiterate MJD's response and suggest a call to tech support, point them to this thread and the logs and they may be able to see something which I can't.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Switching text size in all open panels allowing text-size adjustment to the same magnification changed nothing.
I have discovered that my problem with the text in the Bible panel jumping is related to having a Text Comparison window open and linked. The text in the Bible panel scrolls down four lines (two verses), the Text Comparison jumps to the next verse, then the Bible Panel jumps back a verse to match the Text Comparison panel. If there were a way to tell the Text Comparison panel to show text continuously, rather than a verse at a time, that might alleviate the problem?

Wonder about changing Text Comparison from Link Set letter to Follow ?
Keep Smiling [:)]

Changing Text Comparison from Link Set letter to Follow keeps the Text Comparison panel synchronized with the Bible text panel, and does so without causing the text in the Bible panel to jump around. It works. Thank You. [Y]
