My Logos for Mac crashes every time I try to open the Tyndale Commentaries. I see the text of the commentary come up, but the entire application closes about two seconds later. Is it possible to delete a resources and re-install it?

    Mark -

Sorry you are having problems. You are going to want to submit a crash log. I don't know how to read them, but when someone comes along who does, they will ask to see them. If you don't know how to enable logging, I have included a wiki link for you:

  • Apologies: crash report (posted) without Logos diagnostic log files (Logos4.log and Indexer.log) is bit challenging for Logos user community diagnosis and possible actions/workarounds.

Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac includes link to Mac Diagnostic Logging (suggest enabling always for now, can disable later); please reply to this thread and attach a zip file with Logos diagnostic logs showing crash.

Other option is contacting Logos Mac Support (email or call) => http://www.logos.com/about/contact with reference to this thread.  With Mon 5 Sep being a federal holiday in US, not know about Logos Support availability (should be available Tuesday).

    Keep Smiling [:)]

    Mark,

Are you not able to open any of the Tyndale Commentaries? Are you opening them from the Library, or are they part of a layout? Do you recall if you had applied any highlighting to these resources?

Logos4.log file has a couple Visual Markup style warnings:

    • 09/10/2011 12:19:45 |  INFO | 3 | LocalFileDatabase | Found existing database at /Users/mbrand/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/s1m8vjc3.x81/VisualMarkup/visualmarkup.db
    • 09/10/2011 12:19:45 |  WARN | 3 | VisualMarkupManager | Expected to find named system style Yellow for shortcut key Y
    • 09/10/2011 12:19:45 |  WARN | 3 | VisualMarkupManager | Expected to find named system style BlueUnderline for shortcut key U

Later followed by an error (database disk image is malformed) when Visual Markup Manager was getting markup for resource (TNTCPASUS):

Guthrie, D. (1990). Vol. 14: Pastoral Epistles: An Introduction and Commentary. Tyndale New Testament Commentaries. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press.

Using a SQLite DB Manager (e.g. Firefox extension), with Logos 4 Mac closed, wonder about opening visualmarkup.db and look at rows in markup table ?  If encounter disk image is malformed message, wonder about moving visualmarkup.db file to trash, startup Logos 4 Mac to a blank layout, then use sync now command to copy visualmarkup information from last sync to Logos 4 Mac (wait for spinning arrows to stop), then try opening TNTCPASUS.  If can view rows in markup table, then close database file, and open Logos 4 Mac and try to open TNTCPASUS resource.

WIki Logos 4 Keyboard Shortcuts For Mac includes: "Sign In tip: launch Logos 4, then quickly press and hold command key until Sign In appears – can click “Use blank layout”, then Sign in"
