Here is a strange observation. In doing a library search, if I put in "type:dictionary" it returns The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia but none of my Bible dictionaries. On the other hand if I put in "type:encyclopedia" it returns all of my Bible dictionaries but not The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia. Does anyone have a "reasonable" explanation?

I don't.

When I do what you say ISBE only shows up under type:encyclopedia. This is true of both versions of ISBE (original - 1915, and revised - 1979).

Which ISBE do you have, and what does the "Support Info" (in the Resource Information pane) say about the files. For example, my ISBE revised says:

In my Library type:dictionary shows the following resources: Concise Oxford English Dictionary, Merriam-Websert's Collegiate Dictionary, and a few others of that type, along with a resource that probably doesn't belong: Handbook of Evangelical Theologians.

Are you sure you spelled "dictionary" correctly and did not put a space after the colon?

yes. And the alphabetical list of type-grouped resources goes directly from "clause visualization" to "encyclopedia"

I am pulling from foggy memory, but didn't someone say that Logos was basically going to limit the Dictionaries type to actual dictionaries and put most resources that aren't really dictionaries but call themselves such, like the Zondervan title above, under Encyclopedias? I think it makes sense.

BTW, Spanish language dictionaries are also in my list (Vox Diccionario General; Vox Diccionario Manual De Sinónimos Y Antónimos,& Webster's Spanish-English Dictionary).

This issue is not present in the newer ISBE, so it clearly seems that Logos needs to reclassify the 1915 edition. As you can see, confirmed specifically for mac as per attachment.

p.s. ISBE doesn't show up in my "dictionary" type. Just Merriam-Webster's and Concise Oxford

Yes, it is a bit of a mystery.

If this bothers you, one thing you could try is to remove the resource file and download it again.This should fix a problem with a bad resource type in your file index (if that's the problem). I'm not sure what might happen on multiple installations so you it may take following these steps on all your installations.The instructions will be for a Windows installation.

First shut down Logos on all but one computer.

Then move ISBE to the Hidden Resources portion of the Program Settings tab (Tools > Program Settings), and close and reopen Logos4. This will delete the resource file from your system. Give it time to finish. At this point, if you open your other installation(s) it should delete there as well, though I've not tested this to make sure. If not, you'll need to do this on each system.

ISBE should now be removed from your system, and you should be able to confirm this by opening your library and searching for it.

Now, open the Program Settings tab (if you closed it), right click on ISBE and choose "unhide."

Close and reopen Logos once again and this should download ISBE once again and reindex it. Make sure to let indexing complete.

Then it's no mystery at all. From my experience files tend to be downloaded with the metadata that was attached to them when the files were first created (or updated, I guess). Corrected/updated metadata is, I believe, sent out once a week. On Wednesdays if I remember correctly. I first noticed it when I bought the IVP dictionaries half a year ago.

So I suspect this will have solved itself by Thursday. Though it's very annoying if you're in the habit of making sure things turn up in the right collections directly after downloading. You twist strings to get things where you want them -- and then some days later everything has changed!

You can follow my saga in this thread. I can't say I was satisfied with the response, but it eventually came good (I don't recommend deleting the metadata db but I started with a major type: problem!).

Here it is Friday and ISBE is still showing "dictionary" as its type. This is really not a problem, it is just weird.
