Beta 11 Bug: Navigation should be by verse not only by page
What I expect: a simple way to go to any given verse, and also to easily use various action tools on the same
What I see: choose a verse, it goes to that "page" like in a paper book but you can't easily select that verse for use with tools. Word study works for individual words, but verse study is not easily accessed
Setup: NKJV, Small text size, header and footer ON
- Navigate to Psalm 103:15
- It is near the bottom of the page for me, not the top (matter of opinion whether this is ok/bad. This is ok with me, if verses can still be accessed...)
- Touch Psalm 103:15
- The navigator (at the top of the page) on my display says Psalm 103:9, the verse at the top of the page, not the verse I touched (I think this may be one key part of the bug?)
- Touch Action in the menu
- The action verse says Psalm 103:9 (even if I change the navigator to say "15") (also a bug?)
NOTE: I can change the action verse to Psalm 103:15 at this point, by pressing right-arrow a bunch of times.- Now, unless I manually changed the action verse, Passage Guide brings up Psalm 103:9 and so does Comparison
Seems to me that getting a passage guide or comparison on a verse should be as simple as touching the verse, choosing Action, and then choosing Passage Guide or Comparison.
Workaround, as noted above:
- Touch the verse
- Choose action
- Press the "right arrow" N times until the verse you actually want is shown
- Now touch Passage Guide or Comparison
The workaround is ok with large text on small screens. On a tablet with small text, it can take a while to get to the right verse :-D

Hi Pete,
Try touching the verse you want to study and swipe up at the same time. This will bring up the action menu for the verse you touched first.

Andrew

I just discovered that by accident! It mitigates one of my concerns about the tortuous menu.

That does help for this case! Hopefully that swipe-action can be documented somewhere obvious.
Thanks to Hunter for recording the underlying Navigation->Action bug as well. It helps to have a consistent app
