Yes it is a good price. PrePub price was $109.95, it's unlikely it will ever be that low again.
It is a good price if it is a resource that you are interested in and don't want to wait to see if it will go on sale again (no telling how long that would be or even if it will and you could be using it right away instead of waiting)!
It was one of the resources that had only a slightly better sale price during the Forum Week sale in June. Try calling sales and see if they can give you a better price. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask. [8-|]
Thanks for the replies. It is a great set and it looks like a great price!
Exposition of Ephesians (8 vols.) by Lloyd-Jones, D. Martyn $139.95 Retail: $240.00 Save: $100.05 (42%)
Way too high. About $20.00 would be appropriate.
Ignore George - this time at least.
Very good price for a very very very good resource.
George: if you have a hard copy set for sale for $20.00 let me know! Has anyone seen the price of these, especially the hardback set, on Amazon?!
Amazon price $199.95 Hard cover
It is a good price.
I used these quite a bit when I preached through Ephesians last year. They are essentially sermons he preached on a series he did on Ephesians for his church. They are valuable as a kind of homiletical commentary. But the set is not a commentary set in the common understanding of "commentary." Some of the comments he makes are specific to his time/place, and he has his 'hobby horses.' But it is a very good set, as is his set on Acts.
Certainly, this is a great resource, and Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones is one of my very favorites. He is fantastic.
The price is certainly worth the resource. However, you asked is this a good price. Well, it is the regular price. The $240 "retail price" is totally misleading. I wish Logos would not do that. There is no place on this earth selling this Logos resource at $240,; therefore, to call that the "retail" price is deceptive advertising in my book. I know I just made people angry, but it is the turth. Logos is the only one selling it, and their regular price is $139.
It is a fair price, if you have the money. It will undoubtably sell for less during some sell at some point in the future. But you can never know when or how long that will be. Some day soon, I will almost certainly pay the $139 and feel that I got a fair price. But don't let the $240 "retail price" motivate you to buy before you are financially ready. That is only a sales gimmick, and there is no rush.
I do not intend this to be a Logos slam. I love Logos, and if anything I have written here is not factual, I would like to know so that I can correct it.
