If this feature remains an annual license item will we receive credit for the time between the release of L4 and the release of the PBB conversion software?
Why? You can still use it without any interruption in L3?
Somehow, I am not impressed with a software company saying "here - use the new version ... but by the way we expect you to parallel some of your work in the old version until we get around to adding it to the new version ... and, by the way, there might be some new functionality that you will wish you had used - but repeating more of the work isn't a problem, is it?"
I will admit to hyperbole ... but you get my point.
but by the way we expect you to parallel some of your work in the old version until we get around to adding it to the new version ...
I think you do have some choices open to you.
No one is forcing you to "parallel" your work in both versions. You can use just 3.0 or just 4.0. The choice is yours. If it is too much effort to run both, just wait until all the features are in the software then upgrade. I am choosing not to upgrade to L4 for windows, and using Mac 1.2.2 and Alpha testing.
If you don't see the benefit in upgrading to 4.0 and feel 3.0 is superior, don't upgrade to L4. Really, you don't have to lose sleep over that decision. it is okay. Logos is still supporting 3.0 with pre-pubs and other new books.
If you already upgraded and are not happy after your 2 or 3 days of effort to use 4.0, Logos offers a 30 day money back guarantee.
You still did not answer my question. Why should Logos give you a break for not having access to PBB in 4.0 when you do have the same access in 3.0 that you had last week. Nothing has changed since 4.0 was released. You have not lost any value in your existing software. You have not lost anything that you purchased. So why do you want a "credit"? That just does not make sense.
I can somewhat understand what he is saying. When looking at the new package today, was bummed to see all these individual works I bought seperate from the program now included in the new Platnum. Really, after upgrading to platinum-will have to check what resources I already own in the portfolio and see if it would just be cheaper to buy individually as opposed to upgrading all together.
MJ, if the point is that you are not happy, then yes, that point is quite clear.
Er .. a.. Who said I wasn't happy? So far I have only two issues with Logos 4:
1) I am still having trouble with the Notes function - some of which I expect to be my learning curve, some of which may still be Logos not quite supporting what a number of us have been loudly complaining about over the last few months.
2) Some of the features that I use most heavily are still in the "missing but scheduled" category.
The net result is that the advantages of L4 exceed the drawbacks but the "missing but scheduled" features become disconnected from the application that I am using. That disconnect is an inconvenience that requires significant reworking of schedule and priorities. It would not be at all uncommon for a software firm to extend a license for a month or two as recognition of the inconvenience. All I did was ask - which I consider to be a reasonable response. I certainly did not intend to sound as if I were making a demand. Nor did I expect my tongue-in-cheek response as to why I considered it appropriate to ask, to be taken as anger. Those who have followed my posts on the newsgroups and forum know that I am very slow to anger - but quick to make a smart-aleck response (which I often delete before hitting the send button).

I just honestly don't see a case for why a PBB license should b extended when it still functions exactly as it did last week. You have lost nothing of value, so from a business standpoint I am hard pressed to know why Logos would say "yes" to that request or why you would feel they needed to give you credit. The concerns about notes and other features have no bearing on PBB. But hey, maybe they will. I don't know. Good luck with that request then brother.

MJ, apologies I gave you some duff info a few days back due to my flawed understanding, which may account for your issues with notes showing across bible versions. Apologies.
Let's try again with a still image: If you Follow those three steps in the photo, you should get "cross version" notes. You can change the default note file I think by just going to File> and pick the note file you want or create a new one. I'm pretty sure the right click menu (#1) remembers the last used note file.

Joe,
MJ is Martha = sister
Thanks Damian.
Sorry Martha, it was hard to tell your gender from initials [:$]
PS
Your profile image is not much help either :-)
it was hard to tell your gender from initials
As the 7th (and last) generation of Marthas in the family (aunt-niece more often than mother-daughter), my family took to calling me MJ. And you don't think the Book of Kells is gender specific? I almost used a picture of an ambo ... but figured too many people wouldn't figure out the connection to lectionary. But what I look for first was some old lady lurking in the shadows [:D]
And you don't think the Book of Kells is gender specific?
Kel's short for Kelvin isn't it - what book did he write?
some old lady lurking in the shadows
Not quite lurking:
I vote M.J. Incorporates that as her avatar, much better than the book of kells. [:D]

Well, OK, let MJ choose her avatar, she does better job than you Thomas [:)]
But back to PBBs. I don't think the question of MJ was improper. The argument, Joe, that the usability did not change a bit from the last week is not correct. My only Czech Bibles are only in PBB format. I lost them in the moment I switched to Logos 4. Please dont tell me I am to stay with Logos 3 since there is tons of things in the Logos 4 I asked for for a very long time. What I would read in the MJ question (or may be it is my strong feeling about the PBBs fro the reasons given above) is the need to ask Logos to bring PBBs back as soon as they can, the best, according to me, would be to put them as #1 priority in the list of added features in the near future.

Completely ignoring your desire to return to the topic of PBBs - an image of a handout to be Thomas' new Avatar

Damian: I see that hand.... LOL
My only Czech Bibles are only in PBB format. I lost them in the moment I switched to Logos 4. It's slightly off topic, but have you had luck getting rights for Czech bibles to become regular bibles? In the mean time, I know a lot of people join you in wishing for a soon return to PBB support.
I just got assurance from Bob in the other thread that he will keep eye on that. He forwarded the matter to their particular department. On the other end I am in contact with the Czech publishers. They are willing to get their Bibles into Logos. If however PBBs are going to work in Logos 4 as Bob said somewhere (the support of type and other meta-data) then we can have many Bibles in various languages working the way we need in Logos 4. We just need the support of PBBs in Logos 4 to be implemented ASAP. Looking forward to that.
