PBB Stuck at "Converting"

I have successfully built a handful of personal books and I am looking forward to using this feature more in the future. Recently, however, each book I have tried to build has started and stayed at the "converting" stage of the process. The processor usage goes way up, but nothing seems to be accomplished. Whether I wait five minutes or five hours, the book never completes or even progresses. I was hoping the most recent update (4.3 SR-3) would resolve this, but it did not.

I have Word 2008.

Are you able to rebuild your previously successful personal books? Also, how large is the book you are working on? Is it made from one .docx file or multiple?

Haven't tried rebuilding previous books...I'd like to keep them functional!

One of the books that has failed in this way was fairly long in a single file, so I split it into five smaller files. No change.

Others are shorter, single files. Is there a recommended length or file size?

Just tried two rebuilds...both worked. None of the other books that got "stuck" are building. They are still stuck.

Apparently I spoke too soon. Two of the "stuck" books just finished. [:#]

I deleted the PBB index file and tried rebuilding the books as suggested. One of the two of those must've been what was needed.

I do not know of any reason to break down a PB into smaller .docx files except to trouble shoot. When I have had problems building one, I would break it down to see if I could discover a problem area within the .docx. Your problem is a bit different, however, in that your build didn't "fail" but was taking a long time.

The reason I asked you about rebuilding your books was to give you confidence that Logos was still working. I have several PB's that I continually work on the .docx file, so I am recompiling often.

As you are now aware, using PBB is resource intensive. Since you are working on your laptop, I would suggest making sure the computer is getting enough air (do what you can to keep it as cool as possible) and when you are building a larger book, turn off other apps.
