Indexing Stalled

I had no idea that when I installed Logos 4 Mac that I needed to allow it to index by leaving it open. Well, I closed the program and now it has stalled and won't complete the indexing process. I have NO idea what to do! Also, I tried to download the new update for 4.2a and although it says that updates have been found when I enter "update now" into the command bar, it won't download the new updates. I wasn't sure if this was because the indexing was stalled. Please help!

First, welcome to the forums! Sorry you are having troubles. I think that if you download the new version (4.3), you can install it over your current installation without any trouble. Once you have done that, you should be able to let it index. NOTE: it will take a long time if you haven't done this before. The latest version can be downloaded HERE.

You can, after you have manually downloaded and installed the latest Logos version, tell Logos to do a forced total rebuild of the index by typing "rebuild index" in the command entry box (top left).

From Logos Help "rebuild index – rebuilds the Library and Bible indexes and restarts the Indexer from the beginning if it is already running"

You will see Logos icon in menu bar on Mac. You should leave machine running until indexing is finished - this can, depending on machine and library size, take up to eight hours or more. Leave it running overnight with other apps shut down.

Thanks so much for your advice, super helpful! I double checked my program information and it turns out I'm already running on 4.3. However, when I tried to rebuild the index, logos shut down. I even tried indexing the library and bible separately and the same thing happened. I may have to call customer support to get it to work. I had no idea upgrading was going to be this much of a hassle!
