The case of the missing DSB files!

I became interested this year in Barclay's Daily Study Bible series. I went to my favourite Bible software website and found that they weren't available. After posting a message on here about it, I found that they were available some years ago in Libronix format, but due to licensing issues were not any more.

Well, I had a big shock today,
in a good way. I was looking at my profile page on Logos.com and
looked back over some of my unlocks over the years. I suddenly realised
that when I upgraded in 2004 from the Scholars package to Scholars
Silver, Barclay DSB was included! I had upgraded for other reasons, so DSB at
the time was not something I had paid particular attention to and therefore forgot about it.

So why didn't I have this in my resource library years later? Well,
the root cause is that in 2006 when I upgraded from from version 2 to 3 I
received new media disks and I also switched computers. When I reinstalled
Logos on the new computer from the new media, I didn't realise that DSB
was not on those disks and was never installed.  So they were lost in the change in media and shifting to a new computer... but now they are found because upon realising what had happened, I downloaded them manually from the
Logos FTP and viola! I got DSB back on my computer. Cool

So why am I sharing this? The morale to this
story is from now on when I move computers I will be shifting my
resource directory to the new computer rather than just installing from media. This will allow me to retain
any old works that may have gone out of print (and I also now buy download versions of books). I wonder if anyone else has ever experienced this
or has lost stuff but not realised it because you assumed it was all
reloaded from new media disks?

P.S. - I am going to go back through all my old unlocks and insure that I have not lost anything else!

Many folk have done precisely that, which is why I eventually wrote "Backup and Restore for Libronix" (available from Files forum)! Just Backup when you have checked your unlocks and you will never have to repeat the exercise - it works with NAS Storage, external HDD, USB drives or across your LAN.

I totally agree. I did read that thread with great interest, but alas, I am running on a Mac so I will have to do things manually!  It's no bother, I have Apple's time machine and I also manually copy/backup my resource directory over to a network share from time to time.
