I wonder what it was like for the initial plant churches in the first days when the apostle moved on. They didn't have unified tradition to fall back on and the scripture they did have required fairly heavy discernment to see through the "post-Christ" perspective. But somehow they survived and thrived--and in their mis-steps, often led to enduring written lessons we call Epistles.
