For a Change ...

I recently had some fun making some changes to my PRIORITIZE list in MY LIBRARY. I had mostly scholarly books there and had followed Logos' recommendations for this pretty closely [Lexicons, Grammars, Dictionaries, Academic Commentaries, etc.] But for a change, I added some "lite" resources into different places in the list. By "lite" I mean less technical, maybe devotional authors - maybe more bible centered than bible studies centered. Now when I do searches I come up with some different resources near the top. It has been rewarding. I also looked at the order of my books and made some helpful changes there as well. I will probably go back and make some changes like these from time to time.

Not a bad idea. With lots of resources we focus on just a few and forget about what else we might have (at least I do). Maybe Logos could create a FSD (Facilitate Serendipitous Discovery) option as a sixth choice among prioritized resources.

Yes, of course there's a time factor involved. I have over 3500 resources, soon to be over 6500 resources when Perseus comes in two days!!!

Yes! Two days! For Perseus! *smile* Excited!

What do you think might be the trade-off number for time versus efficiency (to obtain desired results)? 50? 100? 150????

Practically enough for comfortable use. Personally have prioritized many Bibles, Lexicons, Encyclopedias, Commentaries (every series plus several one volume), Dictionaries, and LDGNT Glossary (after My LDGNT Glossary personal book); resources that have indexes for searching.

I would say that if you click on something which should result in a resource opening and you find that a different resource from your preferred opens or if you wish to select a secondary resource and it doesn't appear in the list, you need to prioritize.

                  George, I'm interested in moving my "higher quality" book higher in a search. What I think I will be doing is when I notice in a search that I'd prefer a certain resource "higher" than another, then I will prioritise. By experimenting, I'll see if I can affect that change by applying occasional "tweaks"!

I have been thinking about your post today, and I thought...What about having a tool like the "Interesting Words" Feature, maybe for the Explorer Guide that organizes our Library according to relevance. For example...

- Books from Greatest (Biggest word) to smallest (smallest Word) Identifying which books either contain the Verse we are on the most, or contain the Word we are on the most. Could even go into synonyms, depending on personal preference in Program Settings.

Yes, you are right. Logos at the scrabble table would be like playing God at chess

I was thinking this would help us use our Libraries more especially when you library is more so than your time (at times). If you are studying a particular word or verse this might give you a chance to use your library a little more accurately. Just a thought. Would love to see if it is develop-capable between members. At any rate it's a Springboard idea, I think
