10.5 meg docx file

I have a macbook with my Logos 4 Making PBB, My Book W. S. Plummer 'On the Psalm'

It is 10.5, everytime I try to make docx file into a PBB, it crashes. Is there others who have experience the same problem, if so, have they found a way around it?

A few ways to approach the issue:

1. Save as RTF from Word, then open in Word and save as dock again

2. Make sure you're actually using Word, not saving to docx from pages or mellel (that won't work)

3. break it up into successive halves to see which parts are having a problem(s) and address them by further breaking things into smaller pieces.

Does it crash pretty quickly, or does it take a while before doing so? The suggestions that Mike gave above are good ones.

This leads me to believe that there is something in the .docx file that Logos doesn't like. In other words, its not your computer or because the file is large.

I am using Word 2011 for Mac, If I change to rtf will I loose the content links?

When I have had a problem with a document like this, I have tried breaking the document down into smaller chunks. I have discovered, for example, that a certain symbol in the original document caused the build to fail. Once I discovered the problem, I was able to do a "replace all" with the same symbol in a different typeface and the build was successful.

Rich Text Format (RTF) uses different tagging for font names, size, etc. Save as RTF causes Word to save current document information (effectively ignoring historical editing).

Option: save as rtf can create a new document. Rename original docx. Then open rtf document and save as original name, followed by Build book in Logos.

Content in "new" docx should look like "old" docx (including links).

Other option is creating a new document, then copy from old document and paste into new.

Wondering about any formatting changes (font, size, etc) in Personal Book tags ?

Hi everyone,

I have made my copy of the Psalm into a text text file, lost all my italics; after setting it up again I successfully made the file into my personal books. It obviously didn't like somethings in the original file.

So, when I have completed tweeking this book, does anyone know where I can share books at?

I have found if I made a new name to login with, called it logos, logged out and logged back in as Logos and everything works can open bibles and books, BUT when selecting a book 'drop down list' it reveals all the book names on top of each other

Hi Stephen, I know this is an old thread and you've already had your initial question answered, but I used to be a developer on Microsoft Word and I'm wondering how on earth a Word document could have been 10.5 meg even for a very long book (~1211 pages). That would be about 500K per page! Since there's only about 3000-4000 characters per page, that would be 100 times as many bytes as is really needed to encode the page. Even the formatting doesn't take up that much room. You must have some large images in the document. Is that the case? If so, I would suggest reducing their resolution and pasting them back in so the document isn't so huge. There's no need for large hi-res images when they're only going to be viewed on screen.

I can't answer your most recent question because I'm not really sure what you're talking about and it looks like it's probably a Mac specific question and I'm not a Mac user. But that post is why this thread showed up in Recent Topics, so that's why I'm answering your old question now.

Stephen - I am sorry, but I am having difficulties understanding what you are asking.

What are you "logging" into? OSX? Logos?
Are you creating a new Login for Logos?
What book "drop down list" are you referencing? Can you post a screen shot?
