I am sorry I may be asking a question that has been asked. I do not know how to search in this Forum.

I need to buy a new computer. Do I get XP, VISA (I am thinking not) or Windows 7?

What would you get in the computer. Want to get what will make Logos run better (faster).

Richard,

XP and Vista are bygones. You can still get them, but I wouldn't. I suggest getting an adequate computer with Win7 on it, and max out the RAM the day you buy it.

Windows 7 is a must, as well as 4 gigs of ram.multi core is good from what I hear, Logos takes advantage of them. Might as well go 64 bit, though I don't know if it gives you an advantage with Logos.

Purchased a PC with 8 Gig RAM DDR 3...Logos runs smooth as silk and faster than a leopard! (Sorry, just had to). [:D]

I've never heard anyone complaining about them, though I haven't looked either. Windows 7 is lightyears ahead of XP in my opinion. Getting a graphics card with dedicated memory can't hurt, though I don't know how much it influences L4

In Windows 7: My printer was automatically installed and running before I even realized it. I've not had a single crash in Windows 7 with any of my video, audio, printer drivers.

I'm not sure about Win7's minimum, but once you've maxed out Ram, go ahead and make sure you have a good graphics card. It does not have to be a gaming card or dual SLI or anything crazy like that. A regular card with 256-512MB of dedicated ram should be enough.

I just bought a Lenovo ThinkPad T500 notebook computer, primarily for the keyboard,
the matte screen, and its cool temps. Lenovo is having some great
discounts right now, BTW. A week later I find out about the release of Logos 4. [:)] Not good timing for my financial resources.

I went with integrated graphics because I don't do any
graphics-intensive work, and I don't see that Logos is that graphics
intensive. FWIW, the included system graphics with my ThinkPad is Intel Graphics Media Accelerator x4500HD with vPro. Logos 4 works great on my notebook: Windows 7 Professional 64, C2D P8600
2.40GHz, 15.4" WXGA w/ LED, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, 320GB HDD 7200RPM (around
$900, including taxes). My suspicion is that any graphics card on a new computer will do the job well with Logos 4, but I'll give way to our more experienced tech guys and gals.

To run older programs, make sure your new computer comes installed with Windows 7 Professional. Professional includes XP mode, which I use for Nota Bene. It's like running two computers in one. I
recommend that your computer has a 7200 RPM hard drive. Speed in
accessing the hard drive is even more important that processor speed
with office programs and Logos, IMO.

Windows 7 64-bits is suggested. Vista is bad, and XP is outdated. Also, more and more application support 64-bits processor, and 32-bit processor can only allocate a RAM of ~3.25GB. So, 64-bit is much better.
