recover books from backup...

I had the joy of a Logos Tech deleting all my resources/books from my computer...all 8+ gigs of data!
I do have a semi-recent backup of books...
how do i restore them back to my system without having to download all 8+ gigs of data?
Thanks...
Drew

Hi Drew,
If you have saved the 3 folders mentioned in this wiki article (Method 2 (Saves resource downloading and indexing) , see step #3), then you could follow that article using method 2 or 3 to recover your books. i strongly suggest that when you backup that you save these 3 folders, it makes your recovery simple and painless. i use method 2 regularly when indexing fails on my slow computer.

I would love to do it this way, but I only backed up the resources...
the Logos Tech had me remove the program...so i have lost everything... :-(
Any other ideas?

Then method 3 (at the link in my earlier post) will get you back up and running.
In Method 3:
EDIT2: you have already done step 1 when you backed up your books, so skip down to step 2
step 2 will reinstall Logos4 on your PC
EDIT: pay attention to the center bullet under step 2 as this is important!
If you are not installing to a different location, you can ignore bullet 1 & 3step 3 will collect your books from your backup

Thanks!
It seems to be bringing the books back...
Now, after this is done, and indexing is done, how do I turn back on "automatic updates"?
THANKS so much...for I have a TON of books...and did not want to spend a whole day + downloading etc...

If you re-installed the Logos4 software (step 2) then by default it should be in the auto update mode. You can check by looking at your Program Settings as shown below (you will need it set to Yes and not as i have it set)
To get to Program Settings you will need to click on Tools and in the drop down look in the center bottom for Program Settings.
If it is not set to Automatic Udate = Yes, then click to change it to Yes. You probably will also need Use Internet set to Yes.

Drew,
In the future (after you have Logos4 all indexed and up to date) you should consider saving all 3 of the folders that i mentioned in my first reply to you. As this will be the most efficient method for backup (it does not require a re-index) and preserves all your Notes/Collection/Priorities/Etc.
PS i would closed Logos4 before copying your 3 folders to an external Hard Drive.
