Information regarding theological bias of Bible commentaries?

Does anyone have any information regarding theological bias of Bible commentaries?

Is there a chart which shows the theological bias of Bible Commentaries.

Even the more nuanced, differences.

I realise it is impossible to comment on every Bible Commentary.

Your best bet is bestcommentaries.com.

One thing to keep in mind is that one book in a commentary series may lean one direction on certain issues while another leans the other way. It all depends on the author for that particular volume. Your best bet is to get a list of authors in the series and do research on those authors to find out where they stand on the issues that are important to you. That will give you a general idea of where that commentary stands as a complete series.

I agree, a chart would be nice, but I don't know of one.

Glynn's Commentary and Reference Survey provides an indication of the theological views of many commentaries.

Glynn defines his theological ratings on p 16-17:

Evangelical (E), Evangelical / slightly
critical (E/cr), Conservative/Moderate (C/M) or Liberal Critical (L/cr).

Evangelical: Scripture in the original manuscripts does not confirm anything that is contrary to fact. (Glynn quotes Grudem)

Liberal / Critical beleive that the Bible contains clear errors and may or may not affirm what it says about itself and God.

Between these two perspectives exist varying degrees of inerrancy where the Biblecould be in error concerning some minor historical facts (Evangelical / Critical), or that it only affirms what is normative in faith and practice rather than in historical or scientific detail (Conservative / Moderate)

Both books below, do a good job of presenting the perspectives of the commentaries they recommend or discuss. Both are available in Logos!

Carson, D. A. New Testament Commentary Survey. 6th ed. Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Academic, 2007 ($14.99 USD in Logos).

Well worth the $35 investment!

Ditto on the recommendation of Carson and Rosscup. Also, I've found the many book reviews in these Journals are helpful: Theological Journal Library, vols. 1-10, 11, 12, and 13; Themelios and its update.
