Can I get a monograph to show up in my passage guide under commentaries?

I just downloaded a bible handbook and installed the new resource. When
I entered the passage I wanted to study in the study guide, the
resource didn’t show up. After further investigation into my library I
noticed the book was a “monograph” compared to a “bible commentary”,
etc. Is there a way to get this resource to show up?

First, welcome to the forums! Sorry you are having difficulties. I think that the problem you are having is that the resource that you purchased is not versified. If it were, you would be able to follow along verse by verse. Bible commentaries are generally versified, monographs are not. What resource is it?

Another quick thought: Are you familiar with prioritization? If the resource is indeed versified, you may want to prioritize it so that it shows up higher in the search results.

Maybe someone else can give you a more satisfying answer, but I think your best bet is to talk to a sales rep or to post a question in the forums. The give away is if it is a "bible" or "bible commentary."

Wonder what indexes are in Hayford's Bible Handbook ? Can click "i" when resource is open, then look for indexes section.

Hayford's Bible Handbook is primarily a dictionary, which is why it doesn't show up in the Passage Guide. It doesn't comment on individual verses of Scripture, but on topics. If, in the paper version of a book, you couldn't "open this book to Matthew 28", then it won't show up in the commentaries section, and that's the case for this handbook.

If, instead of "open this book to Matthew 28" you want to ask "show me all the times this book mentions Matthew 28", you can do that in a different section of the PG. First you need to create a collection that includes that book, then create a Custom Passage Guide, then add a Collections section to the PG, then configure the section to use the collection you've created. If that's what you want, and you need help with any of that, please ask.

Are you sure about this Mark? I went to Amazon to get a preview, thinking the same thing. What I found is that the book is primarily a collection of chapters devoted to each book of the Bible. It certainly does not go "verse by verse" but it does go "chunk by chunk."

The handbook is both dictionary and study bible. However the Logos version is not setup as either. See screenshot below. The best way to access from the PG is to set it up in a collection as discussed above.

Hey Mark.

It does break down the scripture "chunk by chunk" vs. verse by verse. I would love help on setting up a custom passage guide. I would like to utilize this resource, but without it being accessed in my passage guide it seems like it will be a pain to use it in an ongoing manner.

Apologies: not have Hayford's Bible Handbook.

Created collection for Study Bibles that includes 3 different types, including Bible Note resources with Bible Indexes (click "i" to show information about resource, including indexes). Added commentary and collection sections to My Passage Guide, clicked collection drop down menu to choose Study Bibles. Followed by running Passage Guide for Philippians 4:4-9 then clicking links in commentary section and hovered mouse for pop-up from collections section:

I have 41 resources by Jack Hayford, and none of them are indexed—they are all monographs, including his commentaries. I normally create a collection called Non-versified for such resources and use MyTag:Non-Verfified to fill the collection. I then use this collection in the Cited By… tool. This disadvantage is that every reference to the target scripture shows up, not just the discussion of the passage.

I do not have the Spirit Filled Bible. It may be versified.
