Default Bible version
Very much enjoy the Android app on my HTC Incredible. How do I change the default bible version when I select a reference in the MacArthur study bible commentary? Currently it's the ESV and I would prefer the NKJV.
Looking forward to split screen when available. And highlighting.
Thanks for the hard work done so far.

This is the same as the bible prioritized on your desktop Logos4 and cannot be changed on Android. Sync'ing a change from desktop may take some time, though.

I havent upgraded to Logos4 yet, still on Libronix 3. Is it still the same fix?
Thanks

Libronix doesn't sync, so you'd be getting Logos 4 defaults.

Dual installation works well... I'm still using L3 for some stuff, even tho' I prefer L4 for most.... all you need is lots of space on the hard drive... [;)]
Then you could prioritize your preferred resource in L4 as Dave suggested.
As a bonus, you could gradually give L4 a try... After 2 years of free porting of new L4 resources back into L3, the recent release of Perseus in L4 format only says to me that the handwriting is finally on the wall for L3.
Blessings on your studies!

Yes, it could take awhile... I've had both L3 and LOGOS4 on my computer for over a month. Nothing on my Incredible looks anything like my prioritize list. ESV comes up when I "jump to reference" though I've never used that version in my life. I just open the NASB and use the quick reference in the upper right after dragging top margin down. When I first installed the beta it defaulted to NASB, but apparently one of the updates changed that.

I would love to upgrade to L4 but a little bit much right now for me. Maybe later when things are better financially. Libronix 3.0g working good right now for me.

Gary, you can upgrade to L4 for free. See option 4: http://www.logos.com/4ways
You won't have the all of the extra databases and updated resources you get by upgrading to an L4 base package (which will restrict some of the new functionality), but you will be able to prioritize your resources the L4 way.
You can use both L3 and L4 together on the same computer if you don't want to use L4 regularly.

I've tried everything I could find. Prioritize, reprioritize, uninstall and reinstall, manual synch... I still can't get NASB to become the default translation. It keeps coming up with ESV, which I've never used even when I started with Libronix.
I am reminded though just how grateful I should be that I can carry so much concerning His Word in an index card sized format, instead of delicate scrolls, when I notice my impatience that the microwave is going to make me wait an entire 40 seconds to reheat my coffee!
Thanks to all you who have brought things this far!0 -

All I know is that Text Comparison reflects my L4 Bible Prioritization but PG took a few weeks to recognize a change in prioritization of my commentaries!

The default functions are not working properly on the Asus Transformer.
Starting from a passage in the KJV, my default bible on desktop L4 where it all works perfectly, I do a word study which produces a normal screen as per desktop, - most often - , sometimes there is no definition content.
If I now click on a lexicon, the two showing are LN and DBLG although my highest priority on desktop is ESL, the DBLG takes me to the DBLG definition. If I now click on a reference in the definition and then "jump to reference" it goes to ESV NOT KJV which is my preferred bible on desktop.
This has been the case for me at all times. I use my desktop daily and sync runs regularly.
Clearly more work needs to be done.

I've had the app installed for months with only one prioritized resource, the NASB. Whether I use Text Comparison or Passage Guide or whatever, I always get the ESV. I do have L3 still installed and wonder if that's messing with the sync.
Glenn said he did a manual sync. How do you do that?

when i read a book with bible references, the popup bible is in a foreign language rather than the esv standard. any ideas why that would happen

the popup bible is in a foreign language
It depends upon the prioritization of your Bibles. I believe that all Bibles not in the original language are treated as equals for prioritization. What is your list of prioritized Bibles (excluding original languages)?
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I have the ESV listed twice (?) and BDAG listed next. Nothing else is listed...

Where is it listed? If looking at Prioritize in (desktop) Library and the entries are exactly the same, delete one.

L3 does not impact priority in desktop Logos 4 nor mobile Logos.

Glenn needs to answer that.

Try adding more bibles to your desktop Prioritize list (in Library) and put ESV 4th or 5th (or wherever). However, the sync to mobile could take many days!

This is not getting answered. I am running L3 and L4 side by side. L4 took too many rich features away, so I stick with L3. I purchased the side-grade almost 2 years ago. in L4, I prioritized books to have NIV84 first, then NASB, then ESV, a lectionary, then BDAG, HAL, BDB, etc. However when I jump to a verse on any mobile device, whether my Samsung Intercept phone or my Acer Iconia A500 tablet, it always uses ESV first. This is quite frustrating. I have tried rearranging the order of various Bibles in L4 and then syncing again by pressing the circular arrows up by the layout buttons. It has been over a month since I set the prioritized books. If there is something else that needs to be done, whether a sync setting, a setting for the mobile app, or adding/removing specific resources from the prioritized list, please let us know.

Hi Paul
Sorry but, at the moment, I don't believe that Logos 4 prioritization is synchronised to mobile devices.
I am hoping that this will be addressed when Logos 4.5 and updated mobile applications are shipped but we will need to see.
I'm afraid that I know of no workaround.

Yet Dave Hooten and MJ. Smith claim in this post that it is, as does every post that deals with setting default Bibles for mobile devices.
In this post, David Hooten says
This depends on the prioritized bibles in your desktop Logos 4 --> http://wiki.logos.com/Prioritizing
Unfortunately, changes could take days to sync with the Android device.
In this post, Gabe Martin, a Logos employee, indicates that the default Bible info is saved on the server for mobile devices.
Currently your default bible info is stored on the server so when your
device is offline it is unable to detect your default bible. It seems that using a browser to access your library from anywhere on the internet, a service that was originally set up for any non-iOS phone, uses the same principle. When you go to library.logos.com, you can sign in and access your books. When I go there, it uses ESV for the default, not the NIV84 which I have at the top of my prioritized list in L4, nor the NASB95 which is next in line. However Bryan Smith, another Logos employee, says in this post that the default for the web browser (and thus, can we presume for the Android app as well?) should follow your prioritized list in L4. In response to the question of how to set the browser default Bible, he said,
If you're signed in to the same account you use with Logos 4 then it
will try to use Bibles in the order you have ranked them until it finds
one that's licensed for online use.Perhaps a quick question: Are my NIV84 and NASB95, both of which I can use on my Android devices, and both of which I have downloaded for offline use, "licensed for online use?" I'm guessing that since I can use them that they are. If there's a problem with my understanding here, I would love a clarification.
And then finally, for iOS devices such as the iPod Touch and the iPhone, the principle is that the mobile device follows the prioritization of L4, as Dave Dunkin, another Logos employee, says here.
When online, the iPhone app uses your synced resource priorities. When offline, it'll use the first Bible it finds.
So once again, can a Logos employee confirm whether or not our Android devices should be getting the default Bible translation from the prioritized list in L4? It seems there are plenty of Android users waiting for the "couple of days" to "several weeks" for a sync to happen.

Sorry, I was speaking more generally about books and not just Bibles. Dave does point out that synchronisation of Bible preferences could take weeks. I would agree with this but there's no way of knowing how long it would take. In terms of other books - such as commentaries - I think there are issues with how these are prioritised. See discussion at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/38626/288889.aspx for more context on this. Apologies for any confusion.

These resources can be used both online and offline

Agreed it would be good to get an update from a Logos employee on this one!
Incidentally, in the iPad app there is an option to set your "Preferred Bible". It will be interesting to see when / if this is added to the Android app.
Again, apologies for the misleading information in my earlier post.

Ok, I'm sitting here at lunch with my Android phone reading some commentary and checking verses. When I select a verse in my commentary it defaults me to the ESV , ugh. My phone is on 3g coverage. Last night at home I'm using WIFI and I don't have this problem. So I think hmmm maybe if I turn the data connection off, so I do and select my verses and viola NKJV. I've done this a dozen times and the same results each time. Don't know why but it does. So I guess right now I'm kind of happy.

When offline it is selecting NKJV because it is on your device but ESV is not? But it also works on Wifi?
