My Lenovo W520 (Nova Bench score over 1000) was not working as fast as expected. I did some checking and found that the CPU was set to run at about half speed. Changing that to "Max Turbo" made a major difference. That got me curious so I checked the NIVIDA display controller and made it the preferred controller for Logos. I got another performance boost.
The other day I help a friend with his Lenovo (a different model) and found the same sort of settings. Apparently they ship from the factory in some sort of energy saving mode that really slows them down. If you have or get a Lenovo be sure to check all the "undercover" settings before making a performance judgment.
Logos performance on both machines is now great. On the W520 (i7, 8gig 7200rpm, NIVIDA 1000 with 2 gig) almost all responses appear to be sub-second. I think have lots of space for disk buffers really helps.
