Bible Study magazine and iOS 5 Newsstand
With Apple getting ready to release iOS 5 and Newsstand does logos have any plans to release a digital version of Bible Study Magazine? It would really benefit me as I travel extensivley and would love to be able to bring them with me without having to tote a bunch of paper copies. Also when I am traveling I would be able to read the latest version and not have to wait until I get back home. I've moved almost everything I could to digital so I can have it with me (i.e Logos 4) wherever I am.

Well at least they could add digital copies to my library so I could read them in Vyrso. You would think that a Bible Software company would at least have the magazine in digital. it seems a little strange that I am forced to get a paper copy of a magazine from a company that provides Bible resources digitally.
Just my two cents.

Cost of postage to overseas is more costly than magazine ... digital option is a no brainer!

I've created a user voice topic for a digital copy of Bible Study Magazine. IF you would also like to see this please go vote for it.

I just voted. I am not sure I understand the reasons for not providing it as an option. People who want an analog copy of Bible Study Magazine could order it, but those that would prefer to have it digitally could make the decision. It would not cause them more in production, they have to create a digital copy for it to be sent to printers in the first place. I don't buy paper magazines really anymore, if I can get them digitally I choose to do that.
That's just my opinion.
Blessings,

While I wished it were different, I can imagine at least some reasons, which circle around the fact that Bible Study Magazine is a very glossy, picture- and graphics-laden product. Basically, these tend to look a bit bland or dull in Logos. The book reader functionalities do not really go well with graphics, let alone text that is placed over graphics. The pane does not like any layout (column width, font, colour, carefully placed pictures etc.). If you look into the old issue that one can access online, you'll see BSM would simply not look like it does in print (or PDF for that matter) if displayed in L4.
Then there might be problems with securing the rights of pictures and graphics etc for a digital edition (I recall journals or magazines available in Logos, where the description says that pictures are missing for this reason). Simply giving it as a PDF (like the Themelios guys do for free) would require additional DRM which I don't know how complex it is.
My idea for a longterm solution would be to generate a "Logos glossy" format that is not displayed by the book resource pane, but by another instance of the homepage rendering machine, that allows for much of the layout niceties and, since it would be a Logos resource, licence control. We could then have tabs with these resources (might include all kinds of other nice stuff and PBs generated from Powerpoint, video integration and an in-application display of the Logos site and forum). But this is L5 or beyond, I think.

I believe the easiest shot term solution would be a PDF format. I can then at least take it with me and read it with out having to carry the paper cope. The DRM shouldn't be that diffacult.
Please give us a digital edition. I would even want the paper copy then. It would save you the money on postage and printing. You could just add it to my orders every month and I could just go download it there.
