Minority view: Happy about note/highlighting merge but for 1 point

Okay, more than one point in that the implementation has been traumatic for many.

My one ongoing concern: I still want to be able to turn palettes on and off via the visual filters icon. Why? because I want to be able to have a single note file for a group (discussion group, Bible study, classroom) but be able to focus on the elements of a single palette within that note file.

Example: for studying parallelism I have two palettes - one for Berlin, one for Bratcher.I want to be able to have a single note file on parallelism but to be able to isolate one or the other palettes as the discussion warrants.

Actually what I would LOVE would be to be able to control the display at the style level ... (or do I need to go back and check what I can actually do now?)

To be sure there are some implementation issues to be ironed out, and there definitely needs to be a KISS option for those that simply want their software to work and thus want to just keep highlighting with them all added to one note so they don't have to focus on the detail, but overall I like the possibilities of what I can do with this new approach.

I definitely don't want Notes popping up whenever I choose to Highlight! No problem with the integration, but keep Notes out of my face!

I think I understand why you make this suggestion but for implementation flexibility and maintenance, I'd be more inclined to to suggest a flag on note files that permitted one to hide all highlighting only notes.

The suggestion was based on what those who were wanting it simple had asked for rather than my idea....this I agree in itself needs further discussion on actually what is the best approach because I see this very quickly becoming a bloated note file.

No problem with that Dave, there will be instances where I don't want a note either, I have I can delete the note and not loose the highlight, but that's an extra step you, I and everyone else I assume don't want to take when we want a simple highlight, particularly on a mobile device. L3 allowed both approaches and these needs to happen in in L4 as well.

I can understand that. (Not having the beta) does it mean that when you tick a Note file the icon does not display any of the palettes within the file?

I don't mind having the note file still show the entire picture; I wouldn't mind if it didn'tWhat I need is the ability to control how the text displays without making use of many screen shots of "prior" states.

Now I've got Beta 2, I can answer my own question:

when a Highlight is applied it results in a display of the previous (pre-v4.5) notes from the "selected" Notes file i.e. it ticks the box for the destination NOTES file in Visual filters
there is no HIGHLIGHT heading for the palette(s) as in v4.3
in the Locator Bar Annotation will select Notes and Highlights
if I Erase a Highlight the complete entry is removed from the Notes file (including any annotation).
if I Erase a v4.3 note/annotation the entry is removed from the Notes file
when the NOTES file is unticked in Visual filters, the Highlights and Notes (annotations) are removed from the resource

The integration is complete - all Highlights are Notes.
