Sam - Can you rephrase your question? What do you mean by "minimize" the group of books?
instead of scrolling down the library to check diffrent books, if there is a way to group books together when i click the library button so i will expand the group i want to view and minimize the others makes it easy for browsing throught the books. what do u think?
Is there a way to group books in the library and on iPhone library so they can be easily minimized, instead of having to go through all the library searching for things.
I don't know about iPhone but there are plans on Android to provide sorting and filtering of resources so that you can easily get (group) the resources you want. Your desktop Library can be grouped by clicking on the various column headings - see http://wiki.logos.com/Library__
Sam - In addition to what Dave wrote, have you considered the "collections" feature? You can read more in the wiki: http://wiki.logos.com/Collections
What I think Sam is asking for (what I would like) is seeing ten groups, instead of 100 books. After selecting a group it expands and shows the books in that group. When opening the library the user may have the option to see "x" number of groups rather than all the books in the library. Say Theology group, Dictionary group, History group, etc..
Select a group and it shows the books in that group.
alabama - great i know the collection featcure but i was asking within the library itself for example the WBC collection if they are all groped with a + sign that would help and for all the rest of the grou collection?
let me tell you why i am asking, after adding the Perseus collections the library is sourt of flooding so if i can group them all with a + the scrolling in the library will be very easy
Lynden -well this is one kind that it can be done. so i user can chose if he wants them by categorize or by personally designed grouping or by similar collections WBC preachers, pulpit etc. so there is different ways to do it.
In other words, you are asking for a total redesign of the library... I am not opposed to your suggestion, but I would not want that to be the only way to view the library. I would prefer a more iTunes like interface so that I can sort books in multiple ways. For example: I might want to sort all of the books on evangelism written by a particular author. Later, I might want to sort all the books on evangelism written after 2000, or ones that were published by Baker. I want to sort by multiple criteria at the same time. A Library view that you are suggesting would be nice (and I would use it too) but less useful (to me at least) than what I am suggesting.
alabama - yes this is another way to do it, actually there are many ways to do it. so back to my question is there a way to do so or it is not in logos yet so my question then would be a suggestion...?
I think the best way to do so until now is add a type category in the library listing and it makes something very very similar to what i am suggestion
add a type category in the library listing
This exists now. Click on the headings. In my screen shot below, I have clicked on "type" and it has arranged them by type.
By the way - here are the fields you can currently choose from:
You can do this on the PC or OSX platforms but not on the iPad/iPhone.
yes i know this and this is what i meant to say
Yes, I recently asked this on another thread. Here's what I did - first of all I tagged everything. Then I added the My Tag column to the library, and now I have customized groupings:
Now, when I click on My Tags, I get everything organized under its own heading. The 'no heading' at the top are resources like individual Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls manuscripts - I don't need all of them listed, just the Index, so the others have gone in this grouping, along with books I don't really use but don't want to delete.
My main grouping is the 'Library' grouping - here are all non-reference books where I can find them right away without being inundated with my results.
edit - I see this was already suggested.
The collections feature is useful but it can't be used in the library. I've added this to uservoice a while ago but don't know if this will get impemented.
Right now, mytags can be used to create own categories, but the absence of a good mytag manager makes making changes to multiple tags very cumbersome. This option has also been suggested already on uservoice.
Hopefully these suggestions will get implemented in the future.
