I'm interested in good habits people have as to how they record their notes on various books. At present I have one file for all notes on the Bible, one for evangelism notes (where my heart is) and then general other books notes.
On the one hand, you can say it is advantageous putting it all together as if you want to read any comments you have on divorce you can search Bible notes for divorce using CTRL + F. On the other hand, you could say it makes them hard to search because if you do a general search and it comes up with 9 hits in your Bible notes you don't know where they are. But this is easy to resolve by opening your Bible notes and then searching that. So, for the Bible, I figured there doesn't seem to be a much better approach here. However, getting the 'general other books' to keep comments in alphabetical order seems like hard work - you have to manually move the first reference as Sort doesn't work alphabetically. There must be a better way forward.
What other approaches have people found have been effective?
