If you know what you are looking for, Logos is great when it comes to navigating.

But what if I want to browse?

What I would ideally want (and I know Logos can't do this) is to place everything in the library in categories - Bibles, Classics, Dead Sea Scrolls etc, and then simply click in the subject box I'm interested in.

As it is, I have thousands of books and I don't know how to find what I need. Can I, for example, exclude certain collections from showing up in the library if I, say, want to browse but want commentaries excluded?

Showing (or not showing) Collections in Library is a frequent request

One way to filter content is to create tags and then sort the Library on My Tags.

The other is to use search fields, albeit you have to type each time e.g.

rating:>=0 -type:commentary

will show everything except commentaries

I didn't realize you could negative out tags as well. This is very useful. I think I'm going to create a Library tag with the main works, but just one for the ancient papyri instead of every single individual one, etc, and excluding other easily located collections like commentaries and classics. This should help a lot. Thanks.

In more complicated searches you will have to use ANDNOT instead of the minus e.g.

type:commentary ANDNOT mytag:Notes OR (type:Notes AND rating:>2)

i.e. all commentaries except those that I tagged as Notes OR Bible Notes with Rating > 2

What about the same system they have on the website: drill down by several categories, not related to one another and your library displays a number of "hits" - Christian Living > Prayer > Men, or Preaching>Grace>Lloyd Jones

I guess we are waiting on proper tags and Collections implementation.

Like Dean I was trying to "filter out" a number of "collections/tags"

For some reason (despite many attempts) I was just not able to successfully use the ratings with the ANDNOT operator [:(]

but after adapting "your" suggested (operators format) it worked exactly as I had wished. [:)]

type:* -type:com

also works to exclude all commentaries (including Bible and Perseus Commentaries); bit less to type.

type:com -perseus

lists commentaries while excluding Perseus.

Thanks KS4J! Didn't know you can abbreviate the type, and didn't know about the Perseus tag (which can be abbreviated to -pers). Great! And this works on the iOS app also!
