4.5b3 Bug in adding annotations

I have 2 note files "DominicM New Notes" and "Hilight Only", in 4.5B2, selecting "Hilight Only" would make that file active and add highlighting into it, and keep my main notes clean.. I could toggle note document which file I wanted the note in.. and it was working great

4.5b3 has broken it, it is now ignoring the switch and insisting on adding annotation into "DominicM New Notes" even though it is shut and "Hilight Only" is active..

EDIT: found the drop down on highlighting pallette, everything has defaulted to "Pallette specific note" as in release notes (should have read them):

OBSERVATION: How can it be "pallette specific" until the user tells it which note document to use?? it will likely as in my case default incorrectly..

I would have imagined the default would have been "Most Recent", and would expect this is the behaviour our average user will expect.. when it goeth gold/live

    Hi DominicM

Yes, I found this new behaviour strange but assume the reasoning is that - by default - highligts don't "clutter up" a notesfile which people just want to contain their own notes. This seemed to be something people were concerned about in B1 & B2.

I think it will need to be made clear to people what the default behaviour is when it ships - whichever way it stays - I also was confused when I first saw this even after having read the release notes (clearly, too quickly)!

"Palette specific" as I found out was a file named after the Palette  - so it created a new Note file. When I created a new palette, the default annotation file was "Palette specific" and another new file!

People may have to change the default for every Palette.

most of my palelle specifics were archaic, so I moved the notes I wanted to keep, and deleted the irrelevant notes/file, so "DominicM BW_Black" notefile was no more, instead of warning me "No notefile exists" or recreating it, it decided to put them into "DominicM New", this behaviour is illogical to say the least..

Just to clarify. Your Highlighting note option is "Palette specific note file" and it uses "DominicM New". So your palette is also named  "DominicM New"?

NO my pallette is called "DominicM BW_Black" there was a note file by same name which I deleted, and yes Highlighting note option was "Palette specific note file" and it was adding them them into notefile "DominicM New", I have now updated it so it adds to most recent file..

I thought there might be a disconnect between Note file names and Palette names, but I couldn't reproduce the behaviour you describe i.e. if my palette was named "DominicM BW_Black" it would create a note file of that name with default "Palette specific note file", even if I created it first as a Note file and then deleted it.
